Jack Kingston (speedway Rider)
John Heddens Kingston (born April 24, 1955) is an American businessman, lobbyist, and politician who served as U.S. representative for in southeast Georgia, serving from 1993 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party and was part of the House leadership (2002–06) when he served as vice-chair of the Republican Conference. In 2014, he ran for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by retiring senator Saxby Chambliss and advanced beyond the May 20 primary to the July 22 runoff, where he was defeated by David Perdue. Early life and education Kingston was born on April 24, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. He is the son of Martha Ann (née Heddens) and Albert James Kingston Jr., a widely published university professor, who co-founded the National Reading Conference. James Earl Carter Jr. (born October 1, 1924) is an American politician who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981. Robert Lindsay Thomas (born November 20, 1943) is an American politician and businessman. Thomas was born in Patterson, Georgia and graduated from Patterson High School in 1961. He attended Gordon Military Academy in Barnesville for one year and graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. After college, Thomas served in the Georgia Air National Guard from 1966 until 1972 and was in the 165th Tactical Airlift Group. He also worked as an investment banker and a farmer at Grace Acres Farm, a family owned farm in Screven, Georgia. The Demosthenian Literary Society is a literary society focused on extemporaneous debate at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. It is among the oldest literary societies in the English-Speaking world and was founded on February 19, 1803 by the first graduating class of the University's Franklin College.
