John Henry Hall (3 July 1883 – 20 February 1949) was an English professional footballer who played more than 200 games in the Football League as an inside forward or centre forward. Hucknall
Hucknall, formerly Hucknall Torkard, is a market town in the Ashfield district of Nottinghamshire, England. It lies 7 miles north of Nottingham, 7 miles south-east of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, 9 miles from Mansfield and 10 miles south of Sutton-in-Ashfield. It is the second largest town in the Ashfield district after Sutton-in-Ashfield. Hucknall is north-west of Nottingham, on the west bank of the Leen Valley, on land which rises from the Trent Valley in the south and extends northwards to Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Harry Kent (footballer)
Henry Kent (22 October 1879 – 22 December 1948) was an English football player and manager. He played as a centre half in the Football League for Middlesbrough and in the Southern League for Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford. He went on to manage Watford for 16 years, leading them to a Southern League Championship in the 1914–15 season, and into the Football League for the first time in 1920. Described as 'a man of few words' by the ''Watford Observer'', Kent never smoked, drank or swore. A 'model professional' as a player, he was well respected by his players as a manager. The 1908–09 season was the 38th season of competitive football in England. Overview Tottenham Hotspur played their first ever season in the Football League, gaining promotion to the First Division in the process. Spurs, along with Bradford Park Avenue entered the Second Division to replace Lincoln City and Stoke. This year started a new competition: the Charity Shield; a match between the champion of the Professional League vs. the champion of the Amateur League. The first championship went to Manchester United, in a replayed final against Queens Park Rangers. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season.
