Jack Freeman (15 November 1891 – 15 November 1916) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League. Family The son of Frederick and Margaret Freeman, née McGuiness, he was born on 15 November 1891. He died of wounds received on active service on 15 November 1916. Football Top goalscorer for South Melbourne in 1914. Military He enlisted in the First AIF in July 1915. He was badly wounded in France; and, after having both legs amputated, he died in a military hospital on his 25th birthday. Jack Freeman (American Football)
John Joseph Freeman (November 24, 1918 – May 29, 2003) was an American football coach and college athletic administrator. He served as the head football coach at the College of William & Mary's from 1952 to 1956, compiling a record of 14–29–5. Freeman was also the athletic director at William & Mary from 1952 to 1957. Freeman played football and basketball and ran track at William & Mary in the 1940s. He died on May 29, 2003, in Lexington, Virginia Lexington is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Jack Lenard Freeman (January 20, 1922 – July 23, 1990) was an American football guard for the Brooklyn Dodgers of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). He played college football at Texas. College football career Freeman played football for the Texas Longhorns from 1938 to 1942. He was inducted into the Texas Longhorn Hall of Honor, which he helped organize, in 1989. Professional football career Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Steagles Freeman was drafted in the 27th round of the 1943 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who would later temporarily merge with the Philadelphia Eagles to form the Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Steagles for the 1943 NFL season. However, Freeman did not play with the Steagles in 1943, as he was completing his Army Air Corps training at Randolph Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. Brooklyn Dodgers (AAFC)
The Brooklyn Dodgers was an American football team that played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1946 to 1948. The team is unrelated to the Brooklyn Dodgers that played in the National Football League from 1930 to 1943. The team folded prior to the 1949 season and was merged with the New York Yankees to form the Brooklyn-New York Yankees. Team history The Brooklyn Dodgers of the new AAFC held their first training camp in the summer of 1946 out west in central Oregon in the small town of Bend. Led by head coach Mal Stevens, some 62 members of the team assembled in Bend in the middle of July of that year. The team played two preseason games in the Pacific Northwest, the first in Portland against the Chicago Rockets at Multnomah Stadium on August 18, and the following Saturday night in Spokane against the New York Yankees at Gonzaga Stadium.
