Jack Finlay
John Finlay (10 June 1889 – 30 September 1942) was an Irish athlete who played hurling for Laois in the 1910s and in later life was a politician. Finlay was born in Ballycuddy, County Laois in 1889. He had a love of hurling from a young age and soon joined his local club Ballygeehan. In 1913 Finlay won a Laois Junior Hurling Championship with the club. They moved to senior level the following year and proceeded to win five county championships in-a-row with Finlay as captain. After winning the county title in 1914 the club had a major say in the selection of the inter-county team for the following year. Finlay was chosen as captain and was joined by his brother Tom Finlay. That year Laois defeated Offaly, Kilkenny and Dublin to win the Leinster Championship. County Laois ( ; gle, Contae Laoise) is a county in Ireland. It is part of the Eastern and Midland Region and in the province of Leinster. It was known as Queen's County from 1556 to 1922. Johnny Leahy
John Leahy (27 December 1891 – 19 November 1949) was an Irish hurling, hurler who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior team. After joining the team for a tournament game in 1909, Leahy made his proper debut during the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1914, 1914 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1928, 1928 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medals, five Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster Championship medals and one National Hurling League, National League medal. An All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions, Leahy captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1916 and 1925. The title is frequently honorary, but in some cases the captain may have significant responsibility for strategy and teamwork while the game is in progress on the field. This is the list of All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winning captains for the hurling sports competition in Ireland. Each team has one captain. In many counties the captain is chosen by the club that won the Senior County Hurling Championship in the previous year. Amby Power
Ambrose 'Amby' Power (17 February 1884 – 26 February 1960) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-back for the Clare senior team. Power made his first appearance for the team around 1908 and became a regular player over the next decade. During that time he won one All-Ireland winner's medal and one Leinster winner's medal. In 1914 Power became the first Clareman to captain his county to the All-Ireland title.
