Jack Carr (animator)
Jack Carr (born Frank Carr; May 17, 1906 – February 2, 1967) was an American actor and animator. Biography Jack Carr was born Frank Carr on May 17, 1906, in Bayonne, New Jersey to James and Bridgett O'Donnell Carr, Irish immigrants. He was one of eight children. Carr worked for a number of animation studios and was a credited animator since at least the early 1930s. When, in 1930, Charles Mintz found a cartoon distributor in Columbia Pictures and moved his operations to California, Mr. Carr was amongst his staff; whilst working at the Warner Bros. Cartoons, Warner Bros. studio of Leon Schlesinger, he provided the voice of Buddy (Looney Tunes), Buddy from 1933 to 1934: he is also a credited animator on one Buddy short, ''Buddy in Africa''. Bayonne ( ) is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. Located in the Gateway Region, Bayonne is situated on a peninsula located between Newark Bay to the west, the Kill Van Kull to the south, and New York Bay to the east. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 71,686. Bayonne was originally formed as a township on April 1, 1861, from portions of Bergen Township. ''The Broadway Malady'' is a 1933 short animated film distributed by Columbia Pictures, and stars Krazy Kat. The title is derived from the 1929 feature film ''The Broadway Melody'', but the cartoon makes no references to the feature film. Plot At a subway station, Krazy tries to get a ride on a train. Before he could get aboard, numerous commuters come and quickly fill the carriages. By the time the commuters are in, Krazy is flat on his front. A station worker tries to help him by pushing those inside to make more space. As Krazy attempts to come in, he is overtaken by more outside commuters. The jam-packed train leaves the station. Another train stops by moments later. This time Krazy chews some garlic pieces and blows a cloud wall which keeps the incoming commuters at bay. ''The County Fair'', also called ''The Country Fair'' in some reissues, is a short animated film distributed by Universal Pictures, in the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series. The cartoon shares a very similar title with '' Kounty Fair'', another Oswald short released four years prior. Plot Oswald is walking merrily on the road, heading towards the county fair. On his way, the boy beagle is expelled out of the house by a disgruntled father. The father dog roughs up the boy beagle some more before returning indoors. Feeling sorry for his little friend, Oswald decides to take the little dog along. At the fair, Oswald and the boy beagle disguise themselves as a single customer in an attempt to just pay for one ticket. Their cover is blown when they stumble, prompting the ticket seller to shoo them. ''Parking Space'' is a 1933 American Pre-Code short animated film by Walter Lantz Productions, starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is the 77th Oswald film created during the Lantz era and the 128th to feature the character. Plot Oswald runs a shop where commuters leave their young children to be watched by him while they have to be someplace else separately. One day, a lady collie comes to drop someone at the shop. Her submitted child is none other than the boy beagle. The boy beagle feels unsure of the place he's in. He then goes to interact with the other youngsters, particularly a girl gibbon. Because the girl gibbon is often glum, he gives her a couple of milk bottles. To entertain her and everybody else there, the boy beagle encourages them to dance. In the film, Oswald was voiced by multiple actors in this short. Oswald is a farmer whose farm falls prey to the ominous influence of the Great Depression (personified as a dark, shadowy figure). The cartoon's title is a parody of the 1921 Paramount film '' The Sheik''. Plot summary Oswald and the girl beagle are on a camel, riding through the Egyptian desert. One day, they are encountered by a wolf wearing a bandana and also riding a camel. The girl beagle is taken by the wolf and is brought into the latter's hideout, an ancient Egyptian temple. Though the temple's entrance is closed upon his arrival, Oswald is able to crawl under it. In a chamber of the temple, the wolf is smooching the girl beagle. As Oswald knocks on the door, the wolf stops momentarily to confront the rabbit. After opening the door, the wolf hurls a log at Oswald, only to miss. ''The Plumber'' is a 1933 Walter Lantz animated short which features Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Plot summary Oswald is spending some time in a house with a girl beagle and a boy beagle. The girl beagle plays the piano while Oswald dances on top of it and sings the song ''It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo'''. Taking the idea too literally, the boy beagle throws a set of umbrellas out the window, much to Oswald's annoyance. They then notice water dripping from the ceiling pipe of a nearby room. To check the problem, the boy beagle brings a ladder and Oswald climbs. Thinking of it more fun to create mischief than to help his friend, however, the boy beagle kicks and knocks down the ladder. Thus Oswald grabs and hangs onto the ceiling pipe which is very brittle. As a result, the pipe breaks, and large quantities of water pour in and flood the house. Plot A cow who is a school teacher is doing a class. While she reacts as most of the students are singing, the boy beagle (making his debut in this film) blows his nose, that makes your teacher angry. When the cow tells the boy beagle to approach, Oswald puts his leg out of the way to trip him and his girlfriend, what is another beagle, puts a balloon under his very long shirt. ''Carnival Capers'' is a 1932 animated short film featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is the 65th Oswald cartoon by Walter Lantz Productions and the 117th in the entire series. Plot Oswald and the girl beagle (making her debut in this film) are at the fair, dancing on a wooden platform. All of a sudden, a large oppressive pit bull pulls it right under their feet, much to their surprise. The pit bull pretends to apologize by giving Oswald a handshake but snaps a rat trap at the rabbit's hand instead. ''The Busy Barber'' is a short animated film by Walter Lantz Productions, starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is the 64th Oswald short by Lantz and the 116th in the entire series. Plot Oswald opens a barber shop. A hippo kid and his father are walking along as the hippo kid sucks on a peppermint candy. A dog steals the hippo's candy, causing him to cry. His father then decides to take the barber pole and give it to his son to lick as a giant peppermint candy, much to the son's joy. Oswald notices his barber pole being stolen but is unable to stop the hippo dad from taking it. Oswald then notices a tiger sleeping on the ground, deciding the tiger's striped tail to be a good substitute. The rabbit then picks up a saw and cuts the tail off the big cat.
