John G. Hemry ( LCDR, USN ret.; born April 14, 1956), is an American author of military science fiction novels. Drawing on his experience as a retired United States Navy officer, he has written the ''Stark's War'' and ''Paul Sinclair'' series. Under the name Jack Campbell, he has written six volumes of The Lost Fleet series and the steampunk/fantasy ''The Pillars of Reality'' series. He has also written over a dozen short stories, many published in ''Analog'' magazine, and a number of non-fiction works. Hemry has continued the ''Lost Fleet'' series with a spin-off: ''Beyond the Frontier'', focusing on the main characters from the Lost Fleet. Jack Campbell (born January 9, 1992) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Prior to his professional career, Campbell played for the Windsor Spitfires and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. He was selected in the first round (11th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut in 2013. After spending several years in the minors, Campbell was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, serving as the team's backup before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2020, where he emerged as an effective starting netminder and was named an NHL All-Star in 2022. John D. Campbell (21 May 1878 – 23 July 1955) was a Scottish professional golfer. Campbell was born in Troon, Scotland and came to the United States in 1900. He became an assistant to brother Alec "Nipper" Campbell at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. Campbell placed sixth in the 1903 U.S. Open and won three Philadelphia Open Championships. He was a golf pro at Huntingdon Valley Country Club and Overbrook Golf Club then went to north New Jersey for three years. Jack Campbell (born August 22, 2000) is an American football linebacker for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He won the Butkus Award and William V. Campbell Trophy as a senior in 2022. High school career Campbell attended Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa. As a Senior, he led Cedar Falls to a 4A State Championship in basketball in 2018. During his football career he had a school record 338 career tackles. He committed to the University of Iowa to play college football. College career As a true freshman at Iowa in 2019, Campbell played in 11 games and had five tackles. As a sophomore in 2020, he had played in five games and had 29 tackles, one sack and one interception. The Department of the Northwest was an U.S. Army Department created September 6, 1862 to put down the Sioux uprising in Minnesota. Major General John Pope was made commander of the Department. At the end of the Civil War the Department was redesignated the Department of Dakota. Immediately upon arriving in St. Paul General Pope sent letters to the Governors of Iowa and Wisconsin for additional troops to assist the 5th Minnesota Infantry Regiment. From Iowa he got the 27th Iowa Infantry Regiment and from Wisconsin he received the 25th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. Both quickly crossed the border to assist with the uprising. The 25th Wisconsin was in Minnesota three months and the 27th Iowa was there a month before both headed south.
