JS Makinami
is the third vessel of the s of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). Design The hull design is generally based on the one of the ''Murasame'' class. The RUM-139 VL-ASROC is an anti-submarine missile in the ASROC family, currently built by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Navy. Each vertical launch system consists of a number of ''cells'', which can hold one or more missiles ready for firing.
