The Japan Racing Association ( ja, 日本中央競馬会 Nippon Chūō Keiba Kai, or JRA) is a public company established to operate Chūō Keiba (中央競馬 Central horse racing) and to manage racecourses, betting facilities, and horse-training facilities. It was founded in 1954, according to the Horse Racing Law (競馬法 Keiba Hō) and the Japan Racing Association Law (日本中央競馬会法 Nippon Chūō Keiba Kai Hō) and is operated under the strict oversight of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (Japan). Air Groove
Air Groove (in Japanese: エアグルーヴ, foaled April 6th, 1993 ~ April 23rd, 2013) is a Japanese racehorse and the winner of the 1996 Yushun Himba. Career Air Groove's first race was on October 29, 1995, at the Icho Stakes, where she came in first. She came in 2nd place at the Grade-1 1995 Hopeful Stakes. She started off the 1996 season with a win at the 1996 Tulip Sho in March. She then won the first of his multiple Grade-1 wins by winning the 1996 Yushun Himba. Her next victory came almost a year later, when she captured the July 1997 Grade-3 Mermaid Stakes. This win sparked a three race win streak that saw her win the 1996 Sapporo Kinen and the 1996 Grade-1 Tenno Sho. Curren Chan
Curren Chan ( ja, カレンチャン, link=no, foaled 31 March 2007) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse who won two JRA Awards. After finishing second on her only start as a juvenile she won three minor races from five starts as a three-year-old in 2010. She emerged as a top-class sprinter in 2011 when she won five consecutive races including the Hanshin Himba Stakes, Hakodate Sprint Stakes, Keeneland Cup and the Sprinters Stakes and won the JRA Award for Best Sprinter or Miler. (born 28 March 1964, Kanazawa, Ishikawa) is a Japanese horse trainer. He trained the first and second placing horses in the 2006 Melbourne Cup, Delta Blues and Pop Rock. Sweep Tosho (Japanese: スイープトウショウ, foaled 9 May 2001) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. Bred and owned by Tosho Sangyo and trained throughout her racing career by Akio Tsurudome she won eight of her twenty-four races between October 2003 and November 2007 including Grade I victories in the Shuka Sho, Takarazuka Kinen and Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Admire Groove (in Japanese: アドマイヤグルーヴ, foaled April 30th, 2000) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2003 and 2004 Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Career Admire Groove's first race was on November 10th, 2002 at Kyoto, where she came in first. She then won her next two races after at Hashin Racecourse, which included a win at the Wakaba Stakes. Admire Groove's first major win was at the Grade-2 Rose Stakes on September 21st, 2003. She came close to capturing the October Shūka Sho just weeks later, but finished in 2nd.
