JKFA Professional League
J&K Premier Football League, also known as J&K Premier Division and Srinagar Premier League, is the top state-level football league in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) and J&K Sports Council. History J&K Premier Football League The sport was controlled by the Kashmir Olympic Association (KOA) as the governing body of football. In 1964, the Jammu & Kashmir Football Association was formed which took over the reins from KOA and framed a constitution which established itself as the apex body of football in J&K. The Premier Division is organised by JKFA which is the top tier of the state football league. The two bottom-placed teams get relegated to the Super Division league while the top two teams gets promoted to the Premier Division. The Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) is one of the 36 Indian state football associations affiliated to the All India Football Federation. Background The Jammu and Kashmir Football Association is the governing body for football in Jammu and Kashmir. It was formed and granted recognition by Jammu & Kashmir State Sports Council and the All India Football Federation in 1964. The JKFA Professional League 2021 is the inaugural season of the JKFA Professional League, the first professional league in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is organised by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association and J&K Sports Council. The inaugural season kicked off on July 12, with 8 teams competing for the maiden title and qualification for the I-League 2nd Division. Popular sports in Jammu and Kashmir include cricket, football and winter sports along with sports like golf, water sports, Ice stock sport and adventure sports. The National Winter Games have been held in Gulmarg in 1996, 2004 and 2009. The first Khelo India Winter Games were held in February and March 2020 in Leh and Gulmarg. Jammu and Kashmir won the most gold medals (26 gold, 29 silver, 21 bronze) while the Indian Army team came second with 8 gold medals. Downtown, popularly known as ''Shahar-e-Khaas'', is the largest and the most densely populated area of the city of Srinagar in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India.
