J.C. Anand
Jagdish Chand Anand better known as J.C. Anand (1922 – 17 May 1977) was a Pakistani film producer and distributor. One of the largest distributors within the country, he founded Eveready Pictures in Karachi. Background Anand was born in 1922 in Bhera, Sargodha District, British India. His father was a businessman. His family opted to stay back in Pakistan at the time of Partition in 1947. Anand was the Uncle of Juhi Chawla (Indian actress) as she was his sister's daughter. His son, Satish Chand Anand continues to make films in Pakistan under their home banner Eveready Pictures. Career Soon after independence in 1947, Anand founded Eveready Pictures to produce and distribute films. Pakistan's pioneer film producer Agha G. A. Gul was his colleague and a friend. Bhera ( pa, ; ur, ) is a city and tehsil of Sargodha District, Punjab province of Pakistan. Pakistani Hindus
Hinduism is the second largest religious affiliation in Pakistan after Islam. While Hinduism was one of the dominant faiths in the region a few centuries back, today Hindus account for 2.14% of Pakistan's population or 4.4 million people according to the 2017 Pakistan Census, although Pakistan Hindu Council has claimed that there are 8 million Hindus living in Pakistan, making up 4% of the country's population. ''Dulhan'' is a 1963 Urdu Pakistani film directed by S. M. Yusuf and produced by J.C. Anand under Eveready Pictures. The lead cast of the film include Shamim Ara, Darpan, Nayyar Sultana and Habib. ''Noor-e-Islam'' is a 1957 Pakistani costume drama film directed by Nazir and produced by J.C. Anand under banner Eveready Pictures. The cast included Swaran Lata, Darpan, Naeem Hashmi, Majid, Nazar, Asha Posley and Nazir himself in leading roles. The film tells the story on the style of Arabian Nights, and revolves around the conflict between Muslims and Mongols. ''Ishq-e-Laila'' is a 1957 Pakistani Urdu language fantasy romance film directed by Munshi Dil and produced by J.C. Anand. The film is primarily known for its blockbuster music by Safdar Hussain and lyrics by Qateel Shifai. It stars Sabiha Khanum, Santosh Kumar and Allaudin in the lead. In 2017, Lok Virsa Museum screened the film as part of special showcase of the feature films in the country. It talks about Layla and Majnun, a tragic love story by Nizami Ganjavi. Safdar Hussain
Safdar Hussain (died 1989) was a Pakistani musician who composed playback melodies for Urdu and Punjabi Lollywood films in the decades from 1950s to 1980s. He is known for composing music for movies like, Heer (1955), Ishq-e-Laila (1957), and Nooran (1957).
