Safdar Hussain
Safdar Hussain (died 1989) was a Pakistani musician who composed playback melodies for Urdu and Punjabi Lollywood films in the decades from 1950s to 1980s. He is known for composing music for movies like, Heer (1955), Ishq-e-Laila (1957), and Nooran (1957). Some of his notable compositions include "''Assan Jan Kay Meet Lei Akh Way, Jhoti Mooti Da Pa Leya Kakh Way''" (Singer: Zubaida Khanum), "''Laila O Laila, Shehar Khoobaan Laila''" (Singer: Zubaida Khanum), "''Wekhya Howay Ni Kisay Takya Howay, Ucha Jeya Shamla''" (Singer: Noor Jehan), and others. Career Safdar's debut movie as a music director was Heer. It was directed by Nazir and released in 1955. Safdar was introduced to the filmmaker by the musician Rashid Attre who was also his uncle. Hazeen Qadri
Bashir Ahmad (9 April 1926 – 19 March 1991), known as Hazin Qadri, was a Punjabi film song lyricist and film screenwriter from Pakistan. Early life Qadri was born Bashir Ahmad in a small village 'Raja Tamoli' near Gujranwala, British India on 9 April 1926. He could not complete his education beyond the elementary or primary school due to poverty. As a young man, he was eager to get an opportunity to try his luck in the then newly established Pakistani film industry after 1947. After two years of struggle, he was given a chance to write his first film song by the veteran film producer and director Anwar Kamal Pasha for his upcoming film Do Ansoo (1950). The film turned out to be a 'hit film'. Career Qadri's second film was ''Nath'' (1952) in which he wrote all the film songs, film script, story and dialogue. Masood Rana
Masood Rana ( ur, , 6 August 1941 – 4 October 1995) was a Pakistani film playback singer. He began his singing career in 1962 with the film ''Inqalab'', became one of the top male singers in both Urdu and Punjabi films for more than three decades and remained a busy singer until his death in 1995. Rana still holds the record of singing more than 300 film songs in each of the two languages - Urdu and Punjabi, an all-time record shared with Ahmed Rushdi and Noor Jehan. Early life Masood Rana was born in Mirpur Khas, Sindh, then British India, on 6 August 1941. He was born in a Rajput land-owning family which had migrated from the East Punjab city of Jalandhar. Ghulam Ali (singer)
Ustad Ghulam Ali ( ur, ; 5 December 1940) is a Pakistani ghazal singer of the Patiala Gharana. He has also been a prominent playback singer in Bollywood. Ghulam Ali was a disciple of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan (elder Ghulam Ali Khan). Ali was also trained by Bade Ghulam Ali's younger brothers – Barkat Ali Khan and Mubarak Ali Khan. Ghulam Ali is considered to be one of the best ghazal singers of his era. His style and variations in singing Ghazals has been noted as unique, as he blends Hindustani classical music with ghazals, unlike any other ghazal singer. Fayyaz Hashmi
Fayyaz Hashmi ( ur, ; 1920 2011) was a Pakistani poet and screenwriter who worked both in the Cinema of India, Indian and Cinema of Pakistan, Pakistani film industry. He penned some memorable songs such as the famous nazm Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and ''Tasveer teri dil mera behela nah sakegi''. The latter made the singer Talat Mahmood famous in India back in 1944 and was instrumental in introducing him to the Calcutta film industry. A little known fact about him is that he wrote the famous 'Na tum mere na dil mera', that was sung by Kamla Jharia, among many others. Iqbal Bano
Iqbal Bano ( ur, ; born 1928 in Delhi – died 21 April 2009 in Lahore) was a ghazal singer from Pakistan. She was known for her semi-classical Urdu ghazal songs and classical thumris, but also sang easy-listening numbers in the 1950s films. Iqbal Bano's prominent work includes her singing of ghazals of the great Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. In 1974, she became the recipient of the Pride of Performance award.
