Iđut AS is a Norwegian publisher of books and music, based in Ikkaldas, Porsanger kommune, Troms og Finnmark, Norway. The company publishes novels, children's books, text books and school books, general literature, music and films. It also has publishes a bimonthly youth-culture magazine, '' Š'', which is edited by Máret Ánne Sara. The main language for the books and music Iđut publishes is Northern Sámi, but it also publishes material in Lule Sámi, Southern Sámi, Kven, and Norwegian. Iđut was founded in 1985 as a record label and expanded into book publishing in 1991. The company is headed by Åge Persen and its chief editor is Nan Persen. The company name, ''Iđut'', comes from a Northern Sámi word that means ''to sprout'' in English. ''Š Nuoraid Magaziidna'' (''Š Youth Magazine''), typically referred to simply as ''Š'', is a Sámi bimonthly magazine focused on music, movies, sports, and youth culture. Founded in 1993, it is published by Iđut AS in , Norway, and, as of 2020, its editor is Niels Ovllá Oskal Dunfjell. ''Š'' is primarily written in Northern Sámi, but it also includes articles in Southern Sámi, Lule Sámi, and Norwegian. Mari Boine
Mari Boine (born Mari Brit Randi Boine, 8 November 1956) is a Norwegian Sámi singer. She combined traditional Sámi joik singing with rock. In 2008, she became a professor of musicology at Nesna University College. Biography Mari Boine was born and raised in Gámehisnjárga, a village on the river Anarjohka in Karasjok municipality, Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. Boine's parents were Sámi who made their living from salmon fishing and farming. She grew up steeped in the natural environment of Sápmi, but also amidst the strict Laestadian Christian movement with discrimination against her people: for example, singing in the traditional Sami joik style was considered "the devil's work". The local school Boine attended reflected a very different world from her family's. All the teaching was in Norwegian. Ella Holm Bull
Ella Holm Bull, (12 October 1929 – 21 September 2006) was a Southern Sámi teacher and author, dedicated to promoting the Southern Sami language for many years. Together with Knut Bergsland, she created an orthography for Southern Sámi in 1974, which is called the Bergsland-Bull orthography in their honor. Holm Bull received numerous awards for her work on Southern Sámi, including the first-ever Gollegiella Award in 2004. Tanabreddens Ungdom
Tanabreddens Ungdom ( se, Deatnogátte Nuorat (new orthography), Dædnugátte nuorat (old orthography) and fi, Tenonrannan nuoret) was a Sámi band established in 1973 in Karasjok, Norway. The band is known for being the first band to popularize the yoik with the record release on the record company MAI 7402, 1974). Since yoiking had been banned in Norwegian schools to some extent, the release of their album garnered a lot of attention and the album sold more than 20,000 copies and even made it on the charts (Norsktoppen). ''Jovnna'' (JLP 909, 1982) was released in 1982 with Tore Aslaksen standing in for Wigelius. Tanabreddens Ungdom's latest release is from 2001 when they released a collection called ''Deatnogátte Nuorat – Buoremusat - The Best Of Tanabreddens Ungdom'' (Iđut 2001).
