The Ivorian Basketball Championship is the premier basketball league for clubs in Ivory Coast. The league consist out of ten teams. The most notable team in the league's history is ABC Fighters, who won 21 titles. The champions of the national championship are eligible to play in the qualifying rounds of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. Its capital is Yamoussoukro, in the centre of the country, while its largest city and economic centre is the port city of Abidjan. Yamoussoukro (; , locally ) is the ''de jure'' capital of Ivory Coast and an autonomous district. As of the 2014 census, Yamoussoukro is the fifth most populous city in Ivory Coast with a population of 212,670. Located north-west of Abidjan, the district of Yamoussoukro covers among rolling hills and plains. Yamoussoukro became the legal capital of the Ivory Coast in 1983, although the former capital Abidjan retains several political functions. Lionel Kouadio
Lionel Nathan Kouadio (born 1 September 2001) is an Ivorian basketball player who plays for CB Morón and the Ivory Coast national team. Standing at , he plays as shooting guard. He has been described as the "future of Ivorian basketball" by some media outlets. Early and college career Kouadio started playing basketball with CO Descartes. He also joined the Basketball Without Borders Africa camp in 2018. Kouadio later played for the LaBase Academy in Abidjan. Kinidinnin Stéphane Konaté Sornan (born 23 August 1980) is an Ivorian basketball player for the ABC Fighters and . He is nicknamed "El Jefe" ("The Chef"). Professional career Konaté started his professional career with Africa Sports in 2002, while still attending high school. He played with the team for three seasons. In 2005, he signed with Abidjan Basket Club (abbreviated as ABC). Konaté won the 2015 FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup with ABC. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Abidjan Basket Club Fighters, commonly known as ABC Fighters, is an Ivorian basketball club based in the city of Abidjan. Founded in 1997, the team is the most successful men teams in the country, with 19 national championships won, and one continental FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2005. Société Omnisports de l'Armée, commonly known as SOA, is an Ivorian basketball club based in Yamoussoukro. The team competes in the Ivorian Basketball Championship and was founded in 1932. The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, similar to the format of the UEFA Champions League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) with sponsorship from Nike, Inc., Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi.
