Ivan Saidenberg
Ivan Saidenberg (November 12, 1940 – September 30, 2009) was a Brazilian comics artist, writer and cartoonist. Career Saidenberg began his career in 1960 at the Outubro publishing house, where he worked until 1963 creating horror comics. Later he also worked at Taika and Royal publishing houses with comics and westerns, war and espionage. In 1971, he started working at editora Abril with Disney comics, being one of the most prolific Brazilian authors of Disney stories. In 1973 he created the character The Red Bat ( pt, Morcego Vermelho), Fethry Duck's superhero alter ego. The character was quite successful in Brazil, but had few stories published abroad (mostly in Italy, where he was named Paper Bat, and in Portugal). Piracicaba
Piracicaba ( or ) is a city located in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The population is 407,252 (2020) in an area of 1378.07 km². It is at an elevation of 547 m above sea level. Name The place name comes from a word in the Tupi language that means "place where the fish stops", and it is formed by the junction of the terms ''pirá'' ("fish"), ''syk'' ("stop") e ''aba'' ("place").. Renato Canini
Renato Vinícius Canini (February 22, 1936 — October 30, 2013) was a Brazilian illustrator, known for his work in publications like ''O Pasquim'' and ''Pancada'', and for Editora Abril, where he drew Disney comics, chiefly José Carioca. He gave the character a more authorial style, and a more Brazilian identity. Career Canini' first job was at age 21, for Rio Grande do Sul state's Secretary of Education and Culture, doing illustrations for the children's magazine ''Cacique''. When the publication ceased, Canini kept doing engineering technical drawings until he completed ten years as a civil servant, a thing he despised. He also collaborated for the newspaper ''Correio do Povo'', TV Piratini and alternative publications. In 1967 Canini was invited by a Methodist pastor (Rev. Willian Schisler Filho - Dico), to be an illustrator for the children's magazine ''Bem-Te-Vi'', and moved to São Paulo. Brazilian Comics
Brazilian comics (known in Brazilian Portuguese as ''HQs, gibis, revistinhas, historietas'', ''quadrinhos'' or ''tirinhas'') started in the 19th century, adopting a satirical style known as cartoon, charges or caricature that would later be cemented in the popular comic strips. The publication of magazines dedicated exclusively to comics, in Brazil, started at the beginning of the 20th century. Brazilian artists have worked with both styles. José Carioca
José "Zé" Carioca (; ) is a cartoon anthropomorphic parrot created by the Brazilian cartoonist José Carlos de Brito (J. Carlos) and shown to Walt Disney in his trip to Rio de Janeiro in 1941. The Walt Disney Company then incorporated the idea, being introduced in the 1942 film ''Saludos Amigos'' as a friend of Donald Duck, described by ''Time'' as "a dapper Brazilian parrot, who is as superior to Donald Duck as the Duck was to Mickey Mouse". He speaks Brazilian Portuguese with a Brazilian Portuguese accent. He returned in the 1944 film ''The Three Caballeros'' along with Donald and a Mexican rooster named Panchito Pistoles.
