Itumbiara Esporte Clube, usually known simply as Itumbiara, is a Brazilian football club from Itumbiara, Goiás state. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1979 and won the state championship in 2008. History On March 9, 1970, Itumbiara Esporte Clube was founded, as a result of the merger of local teams ''Goiás'' (founded in 1964) and ''Nacional'' (founded in 1952). In 1979, Itumbiara competed in the top level of the Brazilian Championship, finishing in the 64th position. In 2008, Itumbiara won the state championship for the first time, after beating Goiás 1–0 and 3–0 in the final. In 2010, Itumbiara finished state championship on 9th and penultimate place and were relegated to second level. Due to this performance they were qualified to 2011 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D because all 2011 Campeonato Goiano teams withdrew. 2021 Campeonato Goiano
The 2021 Campeonato Goiano (officially the Campeonato Goiano de Profissionais da 1ª Divisão – Edição 2021) was the 78th edition of Goiás's top professional football league organized by FGF. The competition began on 28 February 2021. The competition counted with the return of Itumbiara and Jataiense (teams promoted from the 2020 Campeonato Goiano da Divisão de Acesso) that occupied the two places of the two 2020 relegated teams. Atlético Goianiense were the defending champions but they were eliminated in the semi-finals. Due to the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, the Government of Goiás suspended the Campeonato Goiano between 16 and 30 March 2021. The tournament resumed on 31 March 2021, and ended on 23 May 2021. Tied 2–2 on aggregate, Grêmio Anápolis defeated Vila Nova on penalties 5–4 winning the Campeonato Goiano for the first time. 2011 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
In 2011, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth division of the Brazilian League, will be contested for the third time in history, during 18 July and 13 November. It will be contested by 40 clubs, four of which will eventually qualify to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C to be contested in 2012. Competition format The 40 teams are divided in eight groups of 5, playing within them in a double round-robin format. The two best ranked in each group at the end of 10 rounds will qualify to the Second Stage, which will be played in home-and-away system. Winners advance to Third Stage. The quarterfinal winners will be promoted to the Série C 2012. As there is no Série E, or fifth division, technically there will be no relegation.
