Israel In The Eurovision Song Contest 2020
Israel originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The Israeli broadcaster Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC/) collaborated with the commercial broadcaster Keshet Media Group, Keshet and Tedy Productions, which organisied the reality singing competition ("The Next Star for Eurovision"). The competition was won by Eden Alene, with a separate national final, ("The Next Song for Eurovision"), held to select her entry "Feker Libi". However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Background Prior to the 2020 Contest, Israel had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest forty-two times since its first entry in 1973. ''HaKokhav HaBa'' ( he, הַכּוֹכָב הַבָּא, translated as "The Next Star"; formerly ''HaKokhav HaBa LaErovizion'', ''Rising Star to the Eurovision'') is an Israeli interactive reality singing competition, which was first broadcast on Channel 2 from 17 September 2013. It is based on the ''Rising Star'' franchise created by Keshet Broadcasting. The show is a continuation of the former program ''Kokhav Nolad'' (meaning "A Star is Born") which featured aspiring singers competing for a winning title. Milk and Honey ( he, חלב ודבש ''Khalav U'Dvash'') was an Israeli vocal group. The original line-up consisted of Shmulik Bilu, Reuven Gvirtz, Yehuda Tamir and Gali Atari. History The group was assembled in 1978 by producer Shlomo Zach and composer Kobi Oshrat, after both Hakol Over Habibi and Yardena Arazi turned down the opportunity to perform Oshrat's song "Hallelujah" in the Israeli national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 1979. Yaakov "Kobi" Marimi ( he, קובי מרימי; born October 8, 1991) is an Israeli singer and actor who represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
