Israel In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Together We Are One" written by Orly Burg, Osnat Zabag and Eddie Butler. The song was performed by Eddie Butler, who had previously represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 as part of the band Eden where they placed fifth with the song "Yom Huledet". The Israeli entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece was selected through the national final ''Kdam Eurovision 2006'', organised by the Israeli broadcaster Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA). The competition took place on 15 March 2006 and featured eleven entries. "Ze Hazman" performed by Eddie Butler emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from four regional juries, an audience vote and a public vote. Eddie Butler (singer)
Eddie Butler (born October 2, 1971) ( he, אדי בטלר) is an Israeli singer. He was born in Dimona to a family of Black Hebrew Israelites from Chicago. Butler started performing at the age of eight. In the 1990s he sang with wedding bands, and in 1992 worked as a backing singer for Zehava Ben. In 1999 Butler represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem as part of the Eden group which consisted of Eddie, Eddie's older brother Gabriel Butler, Rafael Dahan and Doron Oren. Their song "Happy Birthday" finished 5th with 93 points. Eden broke up in 2001, and after the group's breakup, Butler launched a solo career. "Diva" ( he, דיווה) is the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1998, performed in Hebrew by Israeli singer Dana International representing . The music was composed by Svika Pick, with lyrics written by Yoav Ginai. The song was produced by Offer Nissim with music arrangements by Alon Levin and included on her fifth album, '' Free'' (1999). Svika Pick (, 3 October 1949 – 14 August 2022), born Henryk Pick, was an Israeli pop singer, songwriter, composer, and television personality. Pick first gained traction on a national level after playing a lead part in an Israeli version of the musical ''Hair'', later pursuing a prolific songwriting and singing career. He later gained notoriety after co-writing "Diva", which won the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest for Israel. Pick was described by peers and critics as the Israeli King of Pop, and the Maestro. Avi Peretz (in Hebrew אבי פרץ) sometimes transliterated Avi Perez (born on 9 December 1966) is an Israeli singer of Jewish Mizrahi music (in Hebrew מוזיקה מזרחית i.e., Muziqa mizrahit, meaning Oriental music). Biography Perez grew up in Bat Yam, Israel. His grandfather was a famous poet in Morocco. From a young age Peretz learned to play the keyboard, and began his music career at age 13. In 1992, he had his great break with "קשה לי" which became an immediate hit. Based on that success, he released his debut album "גלגל הזמן" (Lit. Rama Messenger ( he, רמה מסינגר; September 3, 1968 – August 18, 2015) was an Israeli actress, voice actress and singer. Biography Messinger was born and raised in Ramat Ef'al, Israel. She was named after her maternal uncle, Rami Gil (Mogilnik) who was an Israeli Air Force pilot who fell a year before she was born. She studied at the Thelma Yellin High School of Performing Arts. In the Israel Defense Forces, she served in the Southern Command Variety Ensemble. After her discharge, she studied at the Beit Zvi Acting School. Maya Bouskilla
Maya Bouskilla (or Buskila; he, מאיה בוסקילה; born November 9, 1977) is an Israeli singer. Early life Buskila was born Netanya, Israel, to a religious family of Moroccan-Jewish descent. She was discovered by a scout for Helicon Records, one of Israel's best selling labels, who heard her singing in a karaoke bar. Four years later, Roberto Ben-Shushan and Eyal Malul became her managers. Bouskilla claimed to still be religious when she was called up for mandatory service at the age of 18 and received a deferment. In April 2008, after criticism of her draft-dodging, Bouskilla voluntarily enlisted to the Israeli military for a short period, reportedly so she could set a good example for other young Israeli women. Yael Bar Zohar ( he, יעל בר זוהר; ) is an Israeli television host, model, singer and actress. Early life and career Bar Zohar was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to a Jewish family.
