Israel Klabin
Israel Klabin (born 20 September 1926) is a Brazilian civil engineer, mathematician, environmentalist and politician. He was born in Rio de Janeiro. He served as the second Mayor of Rio de Janeiro from 15 March 1979 to 3 June 1980. He was a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement. After serving as mayor, Klabin was President of the State Bank of Rio de Janeiro from 1980 to 1983. Political career He was a founding member of the Instituto Superior de Estudos Brasileiros (ISEB), served as a consultant and regional development planner and co-authored guidelines for development in the Brazilian Northeast. It was the seat of the Crown captaincy of Rio de Janeiro, a district of colonial Brazil under Portuguese rule. The Brazilian Democratic Movement ( pt, Movimento Democrático Brasileiro, MDB) is a Brazilian political party. Guanabara (state)
The State of Guanabara ( pt, Estado da Guanabara, ) was a state within the Fourth Brazilian Republic from 1960 to 1964, and the Federative Republic of Brazil from 1964 to 1975. It included the city of Rio de Janeiro. The state was established in 1960, replacing the Federal District of Brazil, and existed until 1975, when it was merged with the old State of Rio de Janeiro to create a juridically new state also named State of Rio de Janeiro.
