Iselingen
Iselingen is a manor house and estate located close to Vordingborg on the southern part of Zealand in southeastern Denmark. It takes its name after the Swiss-born merchant Reinhard Iselin who established it in the 1770s. The current main building was completed a hundred years later to design by Vilhelm Dahlerup. History The Iselin family Iselingen was created when the former Vordingborg Cavalry District was divided into 12 estates and sold in auction by the crown in 1774. One of them was the former Vordingborg Castle. The castle was a ruin but the land and its tenant farms were acquired by the merchant Reinhard Iselin who gave it the name Iselingen. He also acquired one of the other estates, Vordingborg Castle's former home farm (Vordingborg Ladegård), which was named Rosenfeldt. Iselin was ennobled with title of baron in 1776. Just Michael Aagaard
Just Michael Aagaard (17 July 1757 – 7 October 1819) was a Danish merchant and '' konditori''-owner in Copenhagen. He served as chair of the Council of 32 Men (later to become the Copenhagen City Council) and was director of Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring (Copenhagen Fire Insurance). He was the father of Holger Halling Aagaard and owned Iselingen at Vordingborg from 1806. Early life Aagaard was born at the rectory in Glostrup, the son of provost Peder Andreas Aagaard and Sophie Margrethe Heerfordt. Career Aagaard moved to Copenhagen where he became a baker and also opened a grocery store. He was based at Klædeboderne 144. He later became a member of the Council of 32 Men. Martin Hammerich
Martin Johannes Hammerich (4 December 1811 – 20 September 1881) was a Danish art historian, educator, author and translator. He was part of the National Liberal movement and a member of the 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly. He was headmaster of Borgerdydskolerne from 1842 to 1867. Early life and education Hammerich was born in Copenhagen, the son of merchant Johannes Hammerich (1777–1852) and Meta Magdalena Adolph (1777–1823). He was the brother of theologian and historian Frederik Hammerich (1809–1877) and the father of engineer Holger Hammerich (1845–1915). He grew up in a wealthy home, graduating from Borgerdydskolerne in Christianshavn in 1828. He then enrolled at the University of Copenhagen where he won the 2nd prize for a paper on freedmen in Ancient Rome before graduating in theology in 1833. Reinhard Iselin
Reinhard Iselin (4 August 1714 – 10 April 1781) was a Danish merchant, shipowner and industrialist who founded Reinhard Iselin & Co. in Copenhagen in 1749. The company completed 65 expeditions to the Danish West Indies. Iselin was also active in the Danish Asiatic Company where he served on the board of directors from 1759 to 1769. He owned Iselingen and Rosenfeldt at Vordingborg. He was raised to the peerage with the rank of baron in 1776 but the title died with him since both his sons died as infants. Jens Lind (businessman)
Jens Lind (1763 or 1764 11 November 1821) was a Danish sea captain, ship-owner, merchant, slave trader, landowner and industrialist. He was from the late 1780s until 1806 active in the Triangle Trade and was as such responsible for the shipment of somewhere between 1,800 and 2,000 slaves from Guinea to the Danish West Indies, approximately half of them illegally after the abolition of the slave trade in 1803. He was from around 1800 also involved in a substantial number of industrial enterprises, including a brewery at Vandkunsten 8 in Copenhagen (from 1802) and a paper mill, oil mill and soap factory on the Hulemose estate at Vordingborg (from 1808). Hans Wassard (1756–1839) was a Danish merchant, landowner and one of Copenhagen's 32 Men. He invested in a number of privateer ships during the Gunboat War. He owned Marienlyst Manor at Vordingborg. Early life and background Wassard was born at Vordingborg, the son of Mathias Hansen Wassard (1713–1884) and Elisabeth Catherine Aagaard (1733–1780). His father was the proprietor of the farm Holmgaard. Career Wassard settled as a wholesale merchant in Copenhagen. Iver Qvistgaard
Iver Qvistgaard (28 October 1767 8 October 1829) was a Danish civil servant, landowner and mayor of Copenhagen. He owned Aagaard (manor house), Aagaard Manor at Holbæk and the country house Wesselsminde at Nærum. He also engaged in a number of other speculative investments on the turbulent property market during the Napoleonic Wars. Early life and education Qvistgaard was born at Gjerdrup, the son of Morten Qvistgaard and Martha Qvistgaard (née Rehling). He acquired a degree in Latin and law from the University of Copenhagen in 1789. He then went on a Grand Tour through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and England. Avnøgård

Vordingborg
Vordingborg () is an old ferry town in Vordingborg Municipality in Denmark with around 18,000 inhabitants. Because of three large estates surrounding the town, a coherent urban development has not been possible, which is the reason why three satellite towns (former villages) have emerged around the town. Vordingborg Castle
The Vordingborg Castle ruins (''Vordingborg Slotsruin'') are located in the town of Vordingborg, Denmark and are the town's most famous attraction. History The castle was built in 1175 by King Valdemar I of Denmark as a defensive fortress, and as a base from which to launch raids against the Germany, German coast. His half-brother built another castle in a remote location, which is now Copenhagen.
