Isaiah Johnston
Isaiah Johnston (born December 16, 2001) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Huntsville City in MLS Next Pro. Early life Johnston was born in Mississauga, before moving to Georgetown, when he was one year old. There, he began playing soccer at age six with Georgetown SC. At age thirteen, he and his family moved to Milton, where he played for Milton YSC. In 2017, he was named to the U18 Team Ontario for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. University career In October 2018, he committed to attend Cape Breton University to play for the Cape Breton Capers for the fall of 2019. During 2019, he was named Player of the Game twice — on September 15 in a 5–0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties and on September 22 in a 6–0 win over the Acadia Axemen. Toronto FC Academy, also known as TFC Academy, is the youth academy and development system of Canadian Major League Soccer club Toronto FC. The academy has divisions from U14 to U19 and includes over 110 young players. The senior academy team is known as Toronto FC III. Crown Legacy FC is an American soccer team that is located in Matthews, North Carolina. It is the reserve team of Charlotte FC and participates in MLS Next Pro. History On March 31, 2022, Charlotte FC announced it would field an MLS Next Pro team under the leadership of president Darrius Barnes. The club had previously affiliated with the Charlotte Independence of USL League One for the 2022 season. The team was one of seven MLS-affiliated clubs that would join MLS Next Pro in 2023. The 2019 CPL–U Sports Draft was the second annual CPL–U Sports Draft. It was held on November 11, 2019 in Montreal, Quebec. Seven Canadian Premier League (CPL) teams selected 14 eligible U Sports athletes in total. Format Each CPL team will make two selection in the U Sports Draft. Players can be selected if they have years of U Sports eligibility remaining and have declared for the draft. For the non-finalist teams, the CPL combined standings were used to determine the order for the first round, with last-placed HFX Wanderers FC selecting first.
