The Iraq Central FA Perseverance Cup, previously called Iraq Central FA Altruism Cup (Arabic: كأس الإيثار, ''Al-Ithar Cup''), was an annual Iraqi football match contested at the end of the season between the champions and the runners-up of the Iraq Central FA League, the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. The lower divisions in the region each also had their own Perseverance Cup match. The Iraq Football Association (IFA) ( ar, الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم) is the governing body of football in Iraq, controlling the Iraqi national team and the Iraqi Premier League. The Iraqi Football Association was founded in 1948 and has been a member of FIFA since 1950, the Asian Football Confederation since 1970, and the Sub-confederation regional body West Asian Football Federation since 2001. Al-Shorta SC
Al-Shorta Sports Club ( ar, نادي الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Sports Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 17 different sports, more than any other Iraqi club, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. In 1974, following the Iraq Football Association's decision to implement a clubs-only policy for domestic competitions, Al-Shorta were established as a sports club. Al-Shorta are one of Iraq's most successful clubs, having been crowned the inaugural Arab Club Champions Cup winners in 1982, and are the current Iraqi Premier League champions, winning their fifth title in the 2021–22 season. Shawqi Aboud
Shawqi Aboud (in Arabic language, Arabic شوقي عبود) (Adhammiya, Iraq 1927 - d. Baghdad 2008) was an Iraqi coach who managed the Iraqi national team on three occasions. He was born in Adhammiya where his father worked for the Capital Municipality, it was there he first got the taste of sports growing up in Baghdad and playing at the local sports grounds of the area. In 1954, Shawqi traveled to England to take part in a training course along with Adil Basher. He spent a month in England where he got to know Irish coach Billy Cook (Northern Irish footballer), William Cook, formerly a professional with Everton F.C., Everton and Celtic F.C., Celtic who joined the Iraq delegation on their return to Baghdad to manage the Iraq army team. Abdelilah Mohammed Hassan
Abdellilah Mohammed Hassan (1934 – 30 March 2022) was an Iraq football coach, who managed the Iraq national team on two occasions in 1968 and 1972. Career Born in the northern city of Mosul in 1934, Abdellilah enrolled at the Sports Training College in Baghdad in 1955 and later traveled to England, where he earned a widely recognised coaching certificate at Lilleshall with the likes of Adil Basher, Shawqi Aboud and Maan Al-Badry. In England, he also spent time looking at coaching methods, techniques and tactics at English clubs Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur while in 1974, he traveled to Germany where he spent time with European giants Bayern Munich. During his career, he coached Mosul, Al-Farqa Al-Thalatha and also the Iraq national team, Olympic and army teams. 1966 Iraqi Central Perseverance Cup
The 1966 Iraq Central FA Perseverance Cup was the 5th and final edition of the Iraq Central FA Perseverance Cup. The match was contested between the winners and runners-up of the 1965–66 edition of the Iraq Central FA Premier League, Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya respectively. Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha won the game 1–0 with a goal by Gorgis Ismail to win the cup for the second time in their history. During the match, the ball went outside the field and was lost. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. History The Aliyat Al-Shorta team was founded in 1961 by the Police Games Committee. They were promoted to the Iraq Central FA League top-flight in 1963 after winning the third and second divisions in succession, clinching promotion with a 3–1 win over Al-Omma after extra time on 29 June 1963.
