Invergordon Distillery
Invergordon distillery is a grain whisky distillery located at Invergordon in Easter Ross, in Ross and Cromarty, Highland, Scotland. The distillery is operated by Whyte & Mackay, which Philippines-based Alliance Global owns. It was established in 1959. Along with Tamnavulin distillery in Speyside it provides whisky for the company's blended Scotch whisky brands. In July 2023, Whyte & Mackay announced the expansion of its whisky maturation complex at Invergordon, doubling its footprint from 45.4 hectares to 92 hectares. Easter Ross
Easter Ross ( gd, Ros an Ear) is a loosely defined area in the east of Ross, Highland, Scotland. The name is used in the constituency name Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, which is the name of both a British House of Commons constituency and a Scottish Parliament constituency. Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band
Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band was a pipe band associated with the Invergordon Distillery. The band was characterised by the extremely high calibre of the individual players. History The idea of forming a band was put forward by a production manager at the distillery, Willie MacDonald, who played as a drummer at the time with the Dingwall British Legion Pipe Band. Frank Thomson, the owner of the distillery, decided to create the band with a view to winning the World Championships and bringing considerable attention to the firm. The band had its first outing on 9 May 1964, when it marched down the High Street in Invergordon with twelve pipers, three snare drummers, two tenor drummers and a bass drummer, led by Drum major Sandy Macpherson. Blended Whiskey
A blended whiskey (or blended whisky) is the product of blending different types of whiskeys and sometimes also neutral grain spirits, colorings, and flavorings. It is generally the product of mixing one or more higher-quality straight or single malt whiskey with less expensive spirits and other ingredients. This typically allows for a lower priced finished product, although expensive "premium" varieties also exist. Tamnavulin Distillery
Tamnavulin distillery is a producer of single malt Scotch whisky that was founded in 1966. History In 1966, Tamnavulin-Glenlivet Distillery Co. Ltd. built the Tamnavulin distillery in order to satisfy the growing demand from whisky blenders such as Whyte & Mackay, Crawfords, and Mackinlay's. In 1993, Whyte & Mackay became the owners of Tamnavulin when the company purchased Invergordon Distillers (the parent company of the Tamnavulin-Glenlivet Distillery Co. Ltd.) The purchase price of £382 million also included the distilleries Bruichladdich, Isle of Jura, and Tullibardine. The Tamnavulin distillery was closed in May 1995. Whyte & Mackay is a company producing alcoholic beverages based in Glasgow, Scotland. It is owned by Emperador Inc. (a subsidiary of the Alliance Global Group). History Charles Mackay (1850–1919) and James Whyte founded a company as whisky merchants and bonded warehousemen in Glasgow in 1882.
