The Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica is a music museum and music library in the Palazzo Aldini Sanguinetti, in the historic center of Bologna, Italy. Museum Background The Civico Museo Bibliografico Musicale was founded in 1959 to hold the city's collection of musical objects. It was renamed Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica in 2004 when the museum's current site, the Palazzo Sanguinetti, opened to the public. The palace was contains frescoes were first completed between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and provide one of the finest examples of Neoclassical decoration. The museum exhibits highlight the rich musical heritage of Bologna. Until recently, much of this collection was warehoused. Giovanni Battista or Giambattista Martini, O.F.M. Conv. (24 April 1706 – 3 August 1784), also known as Padre Martini, was an Italian Conventual Franciscan friar, who was a leading musician, composer, and music historian of the period and a mentor to Mozart. Pietro Fancelli
Pietro Fancelli (18 May 1764 – 22 January 1850) was an Italian painter and set-designer. Biography Pietro was born in Bologna to Petronio, a quadraturista, and Orsola Benedelli. Petronio moved the family to Venice in 1774, and his son worked with the father and a painter from Brescia called Lodovico Gallina. On returning to Bologna, he trained at the Accademia Clementina, winning the Marsigli Aldrovandi prize in 1784. In 1785, his ''Death of Virginia'' won a further award. He became faculty at the Clementine Academy of Fine Arts in 1791, and assumed the vice presidency with Antonio Beccadelli in 1793–94. He played a role in trying to prevent Napoleonic forces from looting the artworks from suppressed monasteries and churches. Etruscan art was produced by the Etruscan civilization in central Italy between the 10th and 1st centuries BC.
