The Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa ( si, තාක්ෂණික ආයතනය, මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, ta, தொழில்நுட்பவியல் நிறுவனம், மொறட்டுவைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்) (informally NDT) is an engineering college of the University of Moratuwa located in Diyagama, Sri Lanka. It awards the National Diploma in Technology. History The Ceylon College of Technology (CCT) was thus established at Katubedda in 1966 which offered a practically oriented engineering diploma (Diploma in Technology, abbreviated to DipTech) equivalent to a degree which was developed and offered with the technical assistance of UNESCO. The CCT commenced with specializations in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, initially utilizing the physical facilities available at the IPT. University Grants Commission is the body responsible for funding most of the State Universities in Sri Lanka, and operates within the frame work of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978. A public organisation, established under the Parliament Act No 16 of 1978. Location is at No 20, Ward Place Colombo 07. National Diploma in Technology (NDT) is a three-year full-time engineering program for engineers. At present it is conducted by the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa. History The National Diploma in Technology (NDT) program is intended to generate Incorporated Engineers . It was established in 1893 at Ceylon Technical Faculty, Maradana, called a Junior Technical Officers (JTO) course. In 1960 this program transferred to the Institute of Practical Technology (IPT) at Katubedda (presently the University of Moratuwa) and to the Hardy Senior Technological Institute at Ampara. Maradana College of Technology is the oldest technical college in Sri Lanka. Formally known as the Ceylon Technical College which was an institution of higher education for Technical and Scientific fields in Ceylon and a government department. It was established as the ''Government Technical College'' in 1893 at Maradana, Colombo.
