Inspektur Rachman
Mohammad Said Hamid Junid (17 June 1902 – after 1962), often credited as Moh. Said HJ, was a film director, storywriter, and actor active in the early cinema of Indonesia. After an unsuccessful career in the theatre he directed some nineteen films, beginning with ''Boenga Sembodja'' in 1942. Early life Said was born in Rengat, Indragiri, Dutch East Indies, on 17 June 1902. He attended school until age seventeen, when he dropped out and joined a shipping agency. Dissatisfied with this, not long afterwards Said became crew on a merchant freighter, a position which he held for several years. Around 1925, after his ship had landed at Surabaya, Said joined the Sandiwara Royal Poesie Indra Bangsawan drama troupe. Over the next seventeen years he would act with numerous troupes and tour the archipelago, once taking several months to work on a farm. Rengat
Rengat ( Jawi: رڠات ) is a ''kecamatan'' (subdistrict) in Riau province of Indonesia and it is the capital (seat) of Indragiri Hulu Regency. The WWF keeps a conservation forest (it is named "Bukit Tiga Puluh") near the town, but the conservation area is no longer well-protected. Many companies take the nature resources from the forest without legal permit. Rengat is a city in the province of Riau, Indonesia and Indragiri Hulu regency capital. The city is traversed by the Indragiri River. Native to this area is the Talang Mamak tribe. Some other tribes as ethnic immigrants in Rengat include: Malay, Minang, Batak, Tionghuoa, and Sunda. Ratna Asmara
Ratna Asmara (1913 – August 1968) was an Indonesian actress and film director. Originally active in theatre, in 1940 she starred in the romance film ''Kartinah'', which her first husband Andjar directed. After appearing in several further films, she made her directorial debut in 1950 with ''Sedap Malam'' (''Sweetness of the Night''), which made her the first female film director in Indonesian history. Although her work was generally ignored, later female Indonesian directors have found critical acclaim. Early career Ratna was born in the Minangkabau Highlands of Sumatra 1913. This ethnic Sundanese actress had a sister, Suhara, who was married to the director Bachtiar Effendi. Ratna and her husband Andjar joined the Dardanella touring troupe in the early 1930s; with the troupe she was known for the quality of her voice. ''Tjitra'' (literally ''Image'') is a 1949 Indonesian film directed by Usmar Ismail for the Dutch-owned production house South Pacific. Starring Raden Sukarno, Nila Djuwita, and Raden Ismail, it follows a man named Harsono who takes a woman's virginity then flees to the city, where he is caught up in a murder case. Dukun
A dukun is an Indonesian term for shaman. Their societal role is that of a traditional healer, spirit medium, custom and tradition experts and on occasion sorcerers and masters of black magic. In common usage the dukun is often confused with another type of shaman, the pawang. It is often mistranslated into English as "witch doctor" or "medicine man". Many self-styled dukun in Indonesia are simply scammers and criminals, preying on gullible and superstitious people who were raised to believe in the supernatural. The dukun is the very epitome of the kejawen or kebatinan belief system indigenous to Java. Very strong and ancient beliefs of animism, ancestor worship and shamanism are held by the people of the Nusantara.
