''The Wendy Barrie Show'' (also known as ''Inside Photoplay'', ''Photoplay Time'', ''Through Wendy's Window'', and ''Who's Who With Wendy Barrie'') is an American talk show hosted by Wendy Barrie, which aired from November 10, 1948, to September 27, 1950. Broadcast history ''The Wendy Barrie Show'' is notable as one of the first examples of a televised talk show. It aired separately on ABC, DuMont, and NBC, debuting on ABC on November 10, 1948 (Wednesday) at 8:30 pm ET as the sketch comedy ''Inside Photoplay'' before switching to Mondays in September–December 1949 as ''Photoplay Time'', then becoming ''Through Wendy's Window'' in August–September 1950 The DuMont version aired from 2:30 to 3:00 pm ET from January 17, 1949 (Monday), to July 13, 1949 (Wednesday). The Taft Broadcasting Company (also known as Taft Television and Radio Company, Incorporated) was an American media conglomerate based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company was rooted in the family of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States. UCLA Film And Television Archive
The UCLA Film & Television Archive is a visual arts organization focused on the preservation, study, and appreciation of film and television, based at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Also a nonprofit exhibition venue, the archive screens over 400 films and videos a year, primarily at the Billy Wilder Theater, located inside the Hammer Museum in Westwood, California. Jack Shaindlin
Jack Shaindlin (April 14, 1909 – September 22, 1978) was a Russian-American musician, composer, arranger, conductor, and music director. He was musical director for ''The March of Time'' newsreel series. Early life and career Shaindlin was born in Karasubazar, Crimea, Russian Empire on April 14, 1909 to Chaim and Rachel (Golden). His father owned and operated a coal business and was possibly shot and killed during a robbery of his business. Shaindlin came to North America, via Istanbul, on December 8, 1922 and entered the U.S. under the name Jacob Scheindlin. Shaindlin began his musical career as a pianist in silent movie halls, having relocated to the United States as a young boy (Chicago) along with his mother and brother Leo by winning a music scholarship/piano competition in Russia.
