In The Raw (documentary)
''In the Raw'' is a 2009 documentary film about Lubricated Goat's nude appearance on Australian TV. In November 1988, Andrew Denton's ''Blah Blah Blah'' program caused a nationwide stir by allowing guitar group Lubricated Goat to perform on Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV completely naked. The resulting media frenzy jammed phone lines as the public debated this supposed decline in Australian media standards. ''In The Raw'' dispels myths which have arisen as a result of Lubricated Goat's nude appearance by exposing the politics, censorship, and nudity of this event through extensive interviews with the members of the band, ABC Management, and the ''Blah Blah Blah'' production team. Cousin Creep
Cousin Creep is the performance name of Australian-born radio presenter, Craig Barnes. He was involved in the local alternative and independent music scenes. In the late 1980s he published a limited run cassette fanzine, ''Aliens Mutants''. From 1989 to 1995 he ran an independent record label, Hippy Knight Records, which released singles by Superchunk. It issued a tribute album for the Go-Betweens, ''Right Here a Tribute to the Go-Betweens'' (1995) by various artists, including cover versions by Frente, The Meanies, Snout and Smudge. He worked on radio station, 3RRR, and presented the shows, ''Trash on a Platter'', ''Paint the Town Clear Gloss'', ''Vindaloo Cocktail'' and '' Breakfasters'' (2000 and 2001). Happening Films
A happening is a performance, event, or situation art, usually as performance art. The term was first used by Allan Kaprow during the 1950s to describe a range of art-related events. History Origins Allan Kaprow first coined the term "happening" in the spring of 1959 at an art picnic at George Segal's farm to describe the art pieces that were going on. The first appearance in print was in Kaprow's famous "Legacy of Jackson Pollock" essay that was published in 1958 but primarily written in 1956. "Happening" also appeared in print in one issue of the Rutgers University undergraduate literary magazine, ''Anthologist''. The form was imitated and the term was adopted by artists across the U.S., Germany, and Japan. The loss of body hair was one of the physical characteristics that marked the biological evolution of modern humans from their hominin ancestors. Adaptations related to hairlessness contributed to the increase in brain size, bipedalism, and the variation in human skin color. While estimates vary, for at least 90,000 years anatomically modern humans were naked. The invention of clothing was part of the transition from being not only anatomically but behaviorally modern. Andrew Denton
Andrew Christopher Denton (born 4 May 1960) is an Australian television producer, comedian, Gold Logie-nominated television presenter and former radio host, and was the host of the ABC's weekly television interview program ''Enough Rope'' and the ABC game show '' Randling''. He is known for his comedy and interviewing technique. He is also responsible for introducing the troupe of ''The Chaser'' to Australian audiences. Early life Denton is the son of Kit Denton, writer and the author of the novel ''The Breaker'', about Australian soldier Breaker Morant. He went to Roseville Primary School in Sydney, before attending Blue Mountains Grammar School in Wentworth Falls. In 1977 he attended Guildford Grammar School in Perth. Blah Blah Blah (TV Series)
''Blah Blah Blah'' was a 1988 comedy television show starring Andrew Denton, broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The show is most notable for the fact that it began the television careers of many Australian performers including Anthony Ackroyd, Flacco and Roy & HG. With its late night time slot, it was able to get away with a lot more adult humour and content than many other shows of the era. Regular segments included ''In Bed Tonight with James Scanlon,'' and a performance by a rock band''.'' A running joke at the beginning of the series was that Denton was the "work experience kid" filling in while they were waiting for the real star of the show to arrive, à la Waiting for Godot. Lubricated Goat
Lubricated Goat are an Australian noise rock band which originally formed in 1986 by multi-instrumentalist Stu Spasm. They achieved brief notoriety in November 1988 for appearing nude on the ABC TV program ''Blah Blah Blah'', wearing only their instruments and shoes. Mainly influenced by the Stooges and the Birthday Party, they are credited for playing a grimy, confrontational style of rock, which preceded grunge. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia.
