Cousin Creep
Cousin Creep is the performance name of Australian-born radio presenter, Craig Barnes. He was involved in the local alternative and independent music scenes. In the late 1980s he published a limited run cassette fanzine, ''Aliens Mutants''. From 1989 to 1995 he ran an independent record label, Hippy Knight Records, which released singles by Superchunk. It issued a tribute album for the Go-Betweens, ''Right Here a Tribute to the Go-Betweens'' (1995) by various artists, including cover versions by Frente, The Meanies, Snout and Smudge. He worked on radio station, 3RRR, and presented the shows, ''Trash on a Platter'', ''Paint the Town Clear Gloss'', ''Vindaloo Cocktail'' and '' Breakfasters'' (2000 and 2001). Breakfasters
''Breakfasters'' is a long-running Australian breakfast radio show broadcast on 3RRR in Melbourne. First broadcast in 1984, the current presenting line-up of Sarah Smith, Geraldine Hickey and Daniel Burt commenced on 13 May 2019. At launch, the program was presented by volunteers Chris Hatzis and Stratos Pavlis. In a departure from the station's usual freeform radio style, the program was more tightly presented and aimed at a broader audience than 3RRR's specialised music programming. Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise music, noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimal music, minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Some groups are tied to song structures, such as Sonic Youth. Although they are not representative of the entire genre, they helped popularize noise rock among alternative rock audiences by incorporating melodies into their droning textures of sound, which set a template that numerous other groups followed. Blah Blah Blah (TV Series)
''Blah Blah Blah'' was a 1988 comedy television show starring Andrew Denton, broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The show is most notable for the fact that it began the television careers of many Australian performers including Anthony Ackroyd, Flacco and Roy & HG. With its late night time slot, it was able to get away with a lot more adult humour and content than many other shows of the era. Regular segments included ''In Bed Tonight with James Scanlon,'' and a performance by a rock band''.'' A running joke at the beginning of the series was that Denton was the "work experience kid" filling in while they were waiting for the real star of the show to arrive, à la Waiting for Godot. Andrew Christopher Denton (born 4 May 1960) is an Australian television producer, comedian, Gold Logie-nominated television presenter and former radio host, and was the host of the ABC's weekly television interview program ''Enough Rope'' and the ABC game show '' Randling''. He is known for his comedy and interviewing technique. He is also responsible for introducing the troupe of ''The Chaser'' to Australian audiences. Early life Denton is the son of Kit Denton, writer and the author of the novel ''The Breaker'', about Australian soldier Breaker Morant. Lubricated Goat are an Australian noise rock band which originally formed in 1986 by multi-instrumentalist Stu Spasm. They achieved brief notoriety in November 1988 for appearing nude on the ABC TV program ''Blah Blah Blah'', wearing only their instruments and shoes. ''In the Raw'' is a 2009 documentary film about Lubricated Goat's nude appearance on Australian TV. In November 1988, Andrew Denton's '' Blah Blah Blah'' program caused a nationwide stir by allowing guitar group Lubricated Goat to perform on Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV completely naked. The resulting media frenzy jammed phone lines as the public debated this supposed decline in Australian media standards. 3RRR (pronounced "Three Triple R", or simply "Triple R") is an Australian community radio station, based in Melbourne. 3RRR first commenced broadcasting in 1976 from the studios of 3ST, the student radio station of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (now RMIT University), on an educational licence with the name 3RMT. In 1979 it relocated to Fitzroy, and adopted its present name. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, it became synonymous with the post punk and new wave subcultures.
