Imaginations Through The Looking Glass
''Imaginations Through the Looking Glass'' is the first video album by German power metal band Blind Guardian. The band intended to record a DVD since early 1998, however, due to the band's high requirements, no existing metal festival had been considered suitable. Instead, they decided to create their own festival, back in their homeland. The First Blind Guardian Festival was held in Coburg, Germany, on 16–17 June 2003; it lasted two days, with the band playing during both nights. The entire show was professionally recorded and subsequently released on DVD on 14 June 2004. The cover art was painted by Leo Hao. Content The show had been very well prepared for the recording, with complex lighting and pyrotechnic effects set up to assist the musicians in creating the atmosphere. ''Nightfall in Middle-Earth'' is the sixth studio album by German power metal band Blind Guardian. It was released on 28 April 1998 through Virgin Records. It is a concept album based upon J. R. R. Tolkien's ''The Silmarillion'', a book of tales from the First Age of Middle-earth, recounting ''The War of the Jewels''. The album contains not only songs but also spoken parts narrating parts of the story. The cover depicts Lúthien dancing in front of Morgoth. ''Nightfall in Middle-Earth'' is widely regarded as one of Blind Guardian's best-known and best-received albums in their discography. Thomas "Thomen" Stauch (born 11 March 1970), also known by his nickname The Omen, is a German heavy metal drummer, mostly known as the co-founder and former drummer of Blind Guardian. Biography He began his career in 1984 the band Lucifer’s Heritage, playing drums on their 1985 demo, Symphonies of Doom. After changes in the line-up, the band renamed itself Blind Guardian in 1987. Stauch quit Blind Guardian in April 2005, citing dissatisfaction with the direction the band had taken in its latter years. His last releases with the band were the 2002 studio album '' A Night at the Opera'' and the live album '' Imaginations Through the Looking Glass''. In 2004, while still in Blind Guardian, he formed Savage Circus with friend Piet Sielck. Marcus Siepen (born 8 September 1968) is a German guitarist, best known as the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist of power metal band Blind Guardian. For the biggest percentage of Blind Guardian's songs, particularly in more recent years, he has almost strictly played rhythm guitar, with most lead and solo work being performed by André Olbrich. André Olbrich (born 3 May 1967) is a German musician, best known as the co-founder and lead guitarist of power metal band Blind Guardian, in which he serves as one of the main composers with other founder Hansi Kürsch. Olbrich was ranked number 76 out of 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time by Guitar World. He is also ranked number 64 in Joel McIver's The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists. Olbrich's guitar work often reflects vocalist Hansi Kürsch's singing. Olbrich's style is influenced by his favourite bands, which include Queen, Judas Priest, Metallica and Black Sabbath. Hans Jürgen "Hansi" Kürsch (born 10 August 1966) is a German singer, songwriter and former bass guitarist, best known as a member of the power metal band Blind Guardian. One of the founders of the band, he has been its lead vocalist since its creation in 1984, and also acted as the band's bass guitarist until 1996. He is also the former lead vocalist of Demons & Wizards, a side-project with Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer until his departure from the project in 2021. "And Then There Was Silence" is a song by German power metal band Blind Guardian. It was released in November 2001 as the lead single from their album '' A Night at the Opera''. Written by singer Hansi Kürsch and composed by Kürsch and guitarist André Olbrich, the song is based on '' The Iliad'' by Homer and on the '' Aeneid'' by Virgil, and narrates the final days of Troy, as foreseen by Cassandra, daughter of the king of the destroyed city who foresaw the event. The song required as much production time as the rest of ''A Night at the Opera'' combined due to its length, intricacy, and number of audio tracks. Coburg
Coburg () is a town located on the Itz river in the Upper Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany.
