Ilona Petrovna Tyuryaeva (born 15 August 1968) is a Transnistrian politician who was first elected to the self-proclaimed state's Supreme Council in 2005. Life Born on 15 August 1968 in Tiraspol, she hails from a family of doctors and military seamen. She attended Tiraspol Secondary School No. 2 and then worked as a teacher. Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), is an unrecognised breakaway state that is internationally recognised as a part of Moldova. Transnistria controls most of the narrow strip of land between the Dniester river and the Moldovan–Ukrainian border, as well as some land on the other side of the river's bank. Its capital and largest city is Tiraspol. Transnistria has been recognised only by three other unrecognised or partially recognised breakaway states: Abkhazia, Artsakh and South Ossetia. Sheriff (russian: Шериф) is the second-largest company in the unrecognised breakaway state Transnistria. It is based in the city of Tiraspol.
