Ilona Jokinen
Ilona Jokinen (born 1981) is a Finnish soprano opera singer whose repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music. Education Jokinen earned her bachelor's degree in singing pedagogy at the Helsinki Polytechnic. Ilona Jokinen studied opera under Pirkko Törnqvist-Paakkanen and Ritva Auvinen at Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, Finland. She graduated in 2009. She continued her vocal studies with Tom Krause, and has attended master classes by Dorothy Irving, Sherrill Milnes, and Joan Dornemann. Career Ilona Jokinen has held prominent roles at Savonlinna Opera Festival, Finnish National Opera, and other venues. She has performed as Fransquita (Bizet: Carmen), Vera (Kortekangas: Daddy's Girl), Thyra ( Hakola: Vieriva kivi), Young Shepherd (Wagner: Tannhauser), and Susanna ( Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro). Kimmo Hakola
Kimmo Hannu Tapio Hakola (born 27 July 1958) is a Finnish composer. Born in Jyväskylä, he studied composition with Einojuhani Rautavaara and Magnus Lindberg at Sibelius Academy. He first came to prominence with his First String Quartet, which won the Unesco Composers' Rostrum in 1987. Among his best-known works are his Clarinet Concerto, Piano Concerto (1996), Violin Concerto (2012) and Guitar Concerto. Apart from concertos he has written several orchestral works, chamber music and solo pieces for different instruments. He has also composed operas including the cartoon opera ''Mastersingers of Mars'' (2000), the family opera ''Mara and Katti'' (2011) and the monologue opera ''Akseli'' (2012). Toivo Timoteus Kuula (7 July 1883 – 18 May 1918) was a Finnish composer and conductor of the late-Romantic and early-modern periods, who emerged in the wake of Jean Sibelius, under whom he studied privately from 1906 to 1908. The term is used for any kind of song in contemporary German, but among English and French speakers, is often used interchangeably with " art song" to encompass works that the tradition has inspired in other languages as well. Lahti Symphony Orchestra
The Lahti Symphony Orchestra (''Sinfonia Lahti'') is a Finnish orchestra, based in the city of Lahti. The orchestra is resident at the Sibelius Hall. The orchestra was founded in 1910, and placed under the control of the Lahti municipality in 1949. History Past chief conductors of the orchestra have included Ulf Söderblom (1985-1988). Osmo Vänskä became principal guest conductor of the orchestra in 1985, and chief conductor in 1988.
