Ilion, Greece
Ilion ( el, Ίλιον; before 1994: Νέα Λιόσια, ''Nea Liosia'') is a suburb in west Athens, Greece. With 85,000 inhabitants (2011), it is one of the largest suburbs of Athens. Geography Ilion lies southeast of the mountain Aigaleo, northwest of Athens city centre. The municipality has an area of 9.453 km2. Neighbouring municipalities are Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero to the north and east, Petroupoli to the northwest and Peristeri to the south. The main streets are Fylis Avenue, Thivon Avenue, Idomeneos Street and Protesilaou Street. Attica (region)
Attica ( el, Περιφέρεια Αττικής, translit=Periféria Attikís, ) is an administrative region of Greece, that encompasses the entire metropolitan area of Athens, the country's capital and largest city. The region is coextensive with the former Attica Prefecture of Central Greece. It covers a greater area than the historical region of Attica. Twin Towns And Sister Cities
A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. While there are early examples of international links between municipalities akin to what are known as sister cities or twin towns today dating back to the 9th century, the modern concept was first established and adopted worldwide during World War II. Ano Liosia
Ano Liosia ( el, Άνω Λιόσια) is a suburb and a former municipality in the northern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Fyli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 38.447 km2. Geography Ano Liosia lies in the eastern part of West Attica, between the mountains Parnitha to its north and Aigaleo to its southwest. It is 3 km west of Acharnes, 3 km north of Kamatero, 4 km southeast of Fyli, 10 km east of Aspropyrgos and 11 km north of Athens city centre. Transportation The Ano Liosia railway station is served by Proastiakos trains to the Athens International Airport and to Kiato in the Peloponnese. Agioi Anargyroi
Agioi Anargyroi ( el, Άγιοι Ανάργυροι) is a suburb in the north-central part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. It takes its name from the " Holy Unmercenaries": saints who received no payment for their medical services. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. Geography Agioi Anargyroi is located north of Athens city centre. The municipal unit has an area of 3.200 km2. Its built-up area is continuous with that of municipality of Athens and the neighbouring suburbs Peristeri, Ilion, Kamatero, Acharnes, Nea Filadelfeia and Nea Chalkidona.
