Palestinian Central Bureau Of Statistics
The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS; ar, الجهاز المركزي للإحصاء الفلسطيني) is the official statistical institution of the State of Palestine. Its main task is to provide credible statistical figures at the national and international levels. It is a state institution that provides service to the governmental, non – governmental and private sectors in addition to research institutions and universities. It is established as an independent statistical bureau. The PCBS publishes the ''Statistical Yearbook of Palestine'' and the ''Jerusalem Statistical Yearbook'' annually. The head office of the agency is in Ein Munjed Quarter, Ramallah. Activities Besides general statistics, such as the Retail Price Index, the PCBS also carries out special projects. Ramallah
Ramallah ( , ; ar, رام الله, , God's Height) is a Palestinian city in the central West Bank that serves as the ''de facto'' administrative capital of the State of Palestine. It is situated on the Judaean Mountains, north of Jerusalem, at an average elevation of above sea level, adjacent to al-Bireh. Ramallah has buildings containing masonry from the period of Herod the Great, but no complete building predates the Crusades of the 11th century. The modern city was founded during the 16th century by the Hadadeens, an Arab Christian clan descended from Ghassanids. In the United Kingdom, the Retail Prices Index or Retail Price Index (RPI) is a measure of inflation published monthly by the Office for National Statistics. It measures the change in the cost of a representative sample of retail goods and services. As the RPI was held not to meet international statistical standards, since 2013 the Office for National Statistics no longer classifies it as a "national statistic", emphasising the Consumer Price Index instead. However, as of 2018 the UK Treasury still uses the RPI measure of inflation for various index-linked tax rises. Hasan Abu-Libdeh
Hasan Abu-Libdeh (; born 1954) is a Palestinian statistician and politician, who founded the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in 1993. He served in the Palestinian National Authority as Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, and National Economy. Biography Hasan Abu-Libdeh was born in Arrabeh, West Bank in 1954. He completed a Bachelor's degree in mathematics at Birzeit University in 1979, and an M.Sc. in mathematical statistics at Stanford University in 1981. Abu-Libdeh later received an M.Sc. in applied statistics in 1986 and a Ph.D. in biostatistics in 1988 from Cornell University. He worked as assistant professor at Birzeit University from 1988 to 1991. Abu-Libdeh founded the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in 1993, becoming its first director and administering its controversial first census in 1997, which he called "as important as the intifada". The Palestinian government is the government of the Palestinian Authority or State of Palestine. The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (EC) is the highest executive body of the Palestine Liberation Organization and acts as the government.
