Iestyn Polson
Iestyn Polson is an English music producer, engineer, songwriter, musician, and mixer best known for his work with David Gray, Patti Smith and David Bowie. Originally from London, Polson is currently based in New York City. Iestyn Polson grew up in London, England, and formed his first band at age 11. Polson learned to play multiple instruments throughout his childhood and later became interested in record production. Through engineering in studios in London, Polson was introduced to singer/songwriter David Gray who was compiling demos at the time. The two began working together resulting in the multi-platinum selling album White Ladder. The album was made for less than $5,000 in the UK singer-songwriter's London apartment, and combines Gray's now signature sound of electronic grooves and acoustic folk. Chris Velan
Chris Velan is a Montreal-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. Career While in college, he studied law. After passing the bar, he traveled to West Africa where he was the music producer of a documentary film about a group of refugee musicians from Sierra Leone. In 2003 Velan returned from West Africa, releasing his debut solo album ''It's Not What You Think'', which incorporated a mix of his old and new influences ranging from folk, pop and rock to world music and reggae. Live, Velan uses a loop pedal which thickens and layers the music, as he performs live as a one-man band. His last album ''Solidago'' was released on NewSong Recordings. Paul Hartnoll
Paul Hartnoll (born 19 May 1968) is one of two brothers (the other being Phil Hartnoll) who make up the electronic dance act Orbital. History Hartnoll played in a local band during the mid-1980s, Noddy and the Satellites, featuring clarinetist Duncan Walker. In 1987 Paul and his brother Phil began recording under the name Orbital with keyboards, a drum machine and a 4-track. Hartnoll's first brush with fame came when Orbital appeared on Top of the Pops on 22 March 1990. Speaking to The Guardian in December 2013 he explained this was a long way from his Sevenoaks roots. "A week before I was saying to the boss in the pizza place I was working, 'Ah I've just seen next week's rota. ''Life in Slow Motion'' is the seventh studio album by English singer-songwriter David Gray, released on 12 September 2005 in Europe and Sept. 13 in the United States. Following a muted response to his previous album, ''A New Day at Midnight'', the album was seen by some as a return to the form that brought Gray international acclaim with ''White Ladder''; it was also the last album recorded with longtime collaborator Craig McClune. Gray cited Sigur Rós, Sparklehorse, Lucinda Williams, Björk and Mercury Rev as inspirations for the album. The album was Gray's first to use a cello player. The original choice to produce was Daniel Lanois, but he was booked, so Gray ended up using Marius de Vries, who'd produced Gray's hit single " Sail Away." ''A New Day at Midnight'' is the sixth studio album by British singer-songwriter David Gray, released on 28 October 2002 in the UK by East West Records and IHT Records and November 5, 2002 in the United States by the former RCA imprint ATO Records and iht as well. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 1 upon its opening week, and spent a total of 49 weeks on the chart. Two singles were released from ''A New Day at Midnight'': " The Other Side" in December 2002, and " Be Mine" in April 2003. "Dead in the Water" was released as a promo-only single in November 2002. James Maddock
James Maddock (born 1962) is an English singer-songwriter and performing musician. Originally from Countesthorpe, Leicester, Maddock has been based in New York City since 2003. His first album was ''Tied Weight'' in 1982. (Reach Up Records SRO 001). Musicians were, James 'Bam Bam' Barker - drums, keys, percussion. Martyn Lewis - Electric guitar, backing vox.
