Iernut Power Station
The Iernut Power Station is a thermal power plant located in Iernut Iernut ( hu, Radnót, ) is a town in Mureș County, central Transylvania, Romania. It administers eight villages: Cipău (''Maroscsapó''), Deag (''Marosdég''), Lechința (''Maroslekence''), Oarba de Mureș (''Marosorbó''), Porumbac (''Porumbák ..., Mureș County having 2 generation groups, one of 100 MW and one groups of 200, having a total electricity generation capacity of 300 MW. In 2007, a contract was signed with Austrian company Verbund for the installation of a seventh electricity generation group of 400 MW at a total cost of US$375 million that will increase the installed capacity of the power plant to 1,200 MW. The powerplant is set to be expanded with a new group of 430 MW. In 2012 the power station was acquired by Romgaz in quantum of the accumulated debt of 150 million euro by the previous owner company, Electrocentrale București. Iernut ( hu, Radnót, ) is a town in Mureș County, central Transylvania, Romania. It administers eight villages: Cipău (''Maroscsapó''), Deag (''Marosdég''), Lechința (''Maroslekence''), Oarba de Mureș (''Marosorbó''), Porumbac (''Porumbáktanya''), Racameț (''Józseftanya''), Sălcud (''Szélkút''), and Sfântu Gheorghe (''Csapószentgyörgy''). Mureș County (, ro, Județul Mures, hu, Maros megye) is a county ('' județ'') of Romania, in the historical region of Transylvania, with the administrative centre in Târgu Mureș. Societatea Națională de Gaze Naturale Romgaz SA Mediaș (SNGN Romgaz SA) or simply Romgaz is the largest natural gas producer in Romania and one of the largest producers in Eastern Europe. Thermal Power Plant
A thermal power station is a type of power station in which heat energy is converted to electrical energy. In a steam-generating cycle heat is used to boil water in a large pressure vessel to produce high-pressure steam, which drives a steam turbine connected to an electrical generator. The low-pressure exhaust from the turbine enters a steam condenser where it is cooled to produce hot condensate which is recycled to the heating process to generate more high pressure steam.
