Ibrahim Abdelmeguid
Ibrahim Abdel Meguid (born 2 December 1946) is an Egyptian novelist and author. His best-known works form the "Alexandria Trilogy": ''No One Sleeps in Alexandria'', ''Birds of Amber'', and ''Clouds Over Alexandria''. These have been translated into English and French. Early life and education Meguid was born in Alexandria. He studied philosophy at Alexandria University. He obtained his BA in 1973 and moved to Cairo the following year. Farouk Abdel Wahab Mustafa
Farouk Abdel Wahab Mustafa (Arabic: عبد الوهاب، فاروق; – 3 April 2013), pen name Farouk Abdel Wahab, was an Egyptian academic and translator based in the USA. He was born in Tanta and studied at the University of Cairo. He received a BA degree in 1962 and an MA in English literature in 1969. Early life and education He pursued doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota, obtaining a PhD in comparative literature in 1977. He taught at the University of Chicago from 1975 until his death. He was the first occupant of the university's Ibn Rushd Professorial Lectureship in Modern Arabic Language, and was also the Associate Director of its Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Katara Prize For Arabic Novel
The Katara Prize for Arabic Novel is an Arabic literary prize based in Qatar. It was established in 2014 by the Katara Cultural Village. The total prize pool is $650,000 and the main prize $200,000, making it one of the richest literary prizes in the world. One of its sponsors is UNESCO. The winning novels will be translated into five languages - including French and English. The prize was originally split into two major categories: published and unpublished novels each of which had five winners. More recently, prizes were added for research/literary criticism and for young adult unpublished novels. For the published novels, the five winners originally received $60,000 while five winners under unpublished category were each awarded $30,000. Rasha Adly (born 1976) (Arabic: رشا عدلي) is an Egyptian writer and art historian. She is the author of seven novels, two of which have been nominated for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction.
