IQA British Quiz Championship
The British Quiz Championship (BQC), also termed the British Quizzing Championship, is a quiz competition in the United Kingdom. The current competition has been organised since 2004 by Chris Jones' and IQA-CEO Jane Allen's company Quizzing Ltd. Early in 2011 the re-launch of the quizzing.co.uk website saw it rebranded as the home of the British Quiz Association. Before 2004 there had already been some sort of "British Championship" since 1999 run first only by Trevor Montague then by the British Quiz Association (see that page for champions), but after internal strife and a fall in interest in 2003/2004 (see attendance in the BQA links) the old BQA-management gave up and the only British Quiz Championship now is this one run by Quizzing Ltd. A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which players attempt to answer questions correctly on one or several specific topics. Quizzes can be used as a brief Educational assessment, assessment in education and similar fields to measure growth in knowledge, abilities, or skills. They can also be televised for entertainment purposes, often in a game show format. Mark Labbett
Mark Andrew Labbett (born 15 August 1965), also known by his professional nickname The Beast, is an English quizzer and television personality. Since 2009 he has been one of the "chasers" on the ITV game show '' The Chase'' as "The Beast" and from late February 2022 rejoined the Australian version of the show. He previously appeared between 2013 and 2015 on GSN's American version as their sole chaser; between 2016 and 2020 as one of six chasers on the Australian version; and as one of four chasers in the second season of ABC's American revival. Labbett has appeared as a contestant on several other television quiz shows and is a regular in quizzing competitions. Barry Simmons
Barry Lawrence Simmons (born 24 November 1948) is a Scottish-born quiz show contestant, the winner of the first BBC Two TV show ''Are You an Egghead?'', and of Brain of Britain 2013. Simmons was born in Edinburgh and now lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Career Before becoming an 'Egghead', Simmons won £64,000 on ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'', broadcast on 5 February 2005 (Series 17, Episode 6).
