Iñaki Barrenetxea Giraldez
Iñaki Barrenetxea Giraldez (born 28 November 1973, Bilbao, Basque Country) is a Basque former professional road racing cyclist, who after his professional career turned jury in races and organizer of Bizkaiko Bira. In his amateur years he was part of the Base selection and joined Ripolin Bondex team having as a director Joxean Fernandez Matxin and teammates Oscar Freire and David Seco. His father was the president of Bizcay Cyclist Federation and his younger brother, Asier, is also a cyclist. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators. Bizkaiko Bira
Bizkaiko Bira was a multi-day road cycling race held annually in Biscay, Spain. It was regarded as one of the most prestigious amateur races in the world. Many winners became professional after winning the race including Erik Dekker, Roberto Heras, Igor González de Galdeano and Julián Gorospe. The race started in 1981 and lasted until 2009. The organizer was the Amorebieta Txirrindulari Elkartea (Cyclist Association of Amorebieta). They also organize the Klasika Primavera cyclist race. In 2005 due to economical problems, they refused to organize the race and Iñaki Barrenetxea Giraldez, a former professional rider took over for the next years. The race was supported by El Correo local newspaper, BBK. In 2010 the race was permanently canceled. Óscar Freire
Óscar Freire Gómez (born 15 February 1976) is a former Spanish professional road bicycle racer. He was one of the top sprinters in road bicycle racing, having won the world championship three times, equalling Alfredo Binda, Rik Van Steenbergen, Eddy Merckx and Peter Sagan. In the later years of his career, he became more of a classics rider. He has won the cycling monument Milan–San Remo three times, four stages in the Tour de France and seven stages of the Vuelta a España, throughout a successful career. Despite his diminutive stature, Freire was a good sprinter. He had a training philosophy where he rode shorter distances than most pro cyclists, sometimes covering only about half the distance his colleagues would. David Seco Amundarain (born March 17, 1973 in Busturia, Biscay) is a Spanish professional racing cyclist. Although he is known as a cyclo cross racer he also race road. He was part of Ripolin Bondex team in the 90s.
