Ljubljana
Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. During antiquity, a Roman city called Emona stood in the area. Ljubljana itself was first mentioned in the first half of the 12th century. The Slovenian National Road Race Championships have been held since independence in 1991. Blaž Jarc (U23 category) set absolute best time in 2009 Championships and beat all top riders (Elite category), and the same thing with U23 also happened at National Time Trials (2006, 2007, 2009). After that, Slovenian Cycling Federation (KZS) decided to change rules and make it more understable to public. 2014 UCI Road World Championships – Men's Junior Road Race
The Men's junior road race of the 2014 UCI Road World Championships took place in and around Ponferrada, Spain on 27 September 2014. The course of the race was with the start and finish in Ponferrada. In a sprint finish of 32 riders, Jonas Bokeloh became the first German rider since Holger Loew in 1996, to win the junior world title. He out-sprinted Russia's Alexandr Kulikovskiy and Peter Lenderink of the Netherlands for the gold medal. Qualification Qualification was based mainly on the final ''UCI Juniors Nations' Cup ranking'' as of 15 August 2014. The first ten nations in this classification qualified six riders to start, the next five nations qualified five riders to start and the next five nations qualified four riders to start. 2014 UCI Road World Championships
The 2014 UCI Road World Championships took place in Ponferrada, Spain, from 21 to 28 September 2014. The cycling championships consisted of 12 events for elite, under-23 and junior cyclists. It was the 81st UCI Road World Championships and the seventh time that Spain had hosted the championships; they were previously held in Lasarte in 1965, Montjuïc in 1973, Barcelona in 1984, Benidorm in 1992, San Sebastián in 1997 and Madrid in 2005. Bidding process The UCI announced on 4 April 2011 that the city of Ponferrada had the best candidature file to host the Championships. The 2018 European Road Cycling Championships was the 24th running of the European Road Cycling Championships, and took place from 12 to 15 July 2018 in Brno, Czech Republic for the under-23 and junior events, and from 5 to 9 August 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom for the elite events.
