Ivan Vilela
Ivan Vilela (born August 28, 1962 in Itajubá, Minas Gerais) is a Brazilian composer, arranger, researcher, teacher and ''viola caipira'' player. Ivan Vilela is currently a professor at the ECA - School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo. He is the director of the Orquestra Filarmônica de Violas, a Brazilian orchestra composed by Brazilian violas. Ivan Vilela is one of the main ten-string guitarists (viola) nowadays. With a special style and very developed technique, he has more than 15 albums recorded, solo or with different groups, and was nominated for and awarded several prestigious prizes in Brazil. Ignez Magdalena Aranha de Lima Barroso ( ''née'' Aranha de Lima; March 4, 1925 – March 8, 2015) was a Brazilian sertanejo singer, guitarist, actress, TV presenter, librarian, folklorist and teacher. Biography Inês Madalena Aranha de Lima was born on March 4, 1925, in the Barra Funda neighborhood in the city of São Paulo. She started singing at the age of seven. Viola De Cocho
The viola de cocho is a singular plucked string instrument from Brazil. It is typical in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul and has been designated a part of Brazil's intangible national heritage by IPHAN, the Brazilian institution responsible for the preservation of the national cultural heritage. It is unusual in that although it has only three frets at most and is left unvarnished. The Portuguese word ''cocho'', used by farm labourers, refers to a hollowed-out log forming a sort of container. Rubem Azevedo Alves (15 September 1933 – 19 July 2014) was a Brazilian theologian, philosopher, educator, writer and psychoanalyst. Alves was one of the founders of Latin American liberation theology. Life Alves was born on September 15, 1933, in Boa Esperança, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
