Itzespitze
The Itzespitze is a low hill on the L121 between Aukrug and Hennstedt (Steinburg). Steinburg () is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, administered from Itzehoe. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts of Dithmarschen, Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Segeberg and Pinneberg (district), Pinneberg, and by the Elbe River (and the district of Stade (district), Stade beyond). History The district's name is derived from a medieval castle called Steinburg, where the reeves ruled by order of their lords, the dukes of Holstein. This castle was first mentioned in 1307, and it was abandoned and demolished in 1630. However, Steinburg remained the name of the region, and its new centre became Glückstadt before gradually moving to the town of Itzehoe. When Schleswig-Holstein became a province of Prussia in 1867, the district of Steinburg was established. The borders remained unchanged until 1970 when the newly founded town Schenefeld (formerly part of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Rendsburg district) joined Steinburg. The Aukrug Nature Park (german: Naturpark Aukrug) is a nature park in north Germany with an area of . It lies in the centre of the state of Schleswig-Holstein in the region of Holstein (districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Steinburg). It is sponsored by an association formed by the 2 districts. Location The nature park lies near Neumünster only a few kilometres west of the A 7 motorway. Two landscape forms occur in the park: the flat and pure loamy ground moraine landscape and the considerably more subdivided push moraine landscape, that rises to about 80 metres above NN. A summit cross (german: Gipfelkreuz) is a cross on the summit of a mountain or hill that marks the top. Often there will be a summit register (''Gipfelbuch'') at the cross, either in a container or at least a weatherproof case. Various other forms of marking or symbol such as cairns, prayer flags or ovoos may be found around the world on passes and hills, in particular on sacred mountains. In the Italian Alps a Madonna is sometimes placed at the summit instead of a cross. Summit crosses are normally about two to four metres high and are usually made of wood or metal.
