''Itstrumental'' is the fourth album by hip hop producer Prince Paul. Similar to other Prince Paul albums, it follows a theme. The album is strung together by a series of skits about the Mental Victims Unit (a play on '' Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'') tracking down and arresting Prince Paul. The album contains songs about, dealing with, or poking fun at Prince Paul's apparently real depression. The album was seen as Prince Paul's return to his classic style after ''Politics of the Business''. Prince Paul (producer)
Paul Edward Huston (born April 2, 1967), better known by his stage name Prince Paul, is an American record producer, disc jockey and recording artist from Amityville, New York. Paul began his career as a DJ for Stetsasonic. Since then he has worked on albums by Boogie Down Productions, Gravediggaz, MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane and 3rd Bass, among others. Major recognition for Prince Paul came when he produced De La Soul's debut album ''3 Feet High and Rising'' (1989), in which he pioneered new approaches to hip hop production, mixing and sampling, notably by including comedy sketches. His first solo album, '' Psychoanalysis: What Is It?'', came out in 1997, followed by a second album, ''A Prince Among Thieves'', in 1999. ''Politics of the Business'' is the third album by American hip hop producer Prince Paul. This album is considered to be a concept album similar to ''A Prince Among Thieves''. The concept for this album, however, is the concept of following-up a concept album that did not sell too well (that album being ''A Prince Among Thieves''). The album features guest appearances from Ice-T, DJ Jazzy Jeff, MF Doom, Biz Markie, Chuck D, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and more. Double Dee and Steinski is a duo of hip hop producers, composed of Doug "Double Dee" DiFranco and Steven "Steinski" Stein. They achieved notoriety in the early 1980s for a series of underground hip-hop sample-based collages known as the "Lessons".
