Itay Talgam
Itay Talgam ( he, איתי טלגם ) (born 24 March 1958, Tel Aviv) is an Israeli conductor and business consultant. Biography Itay Talgam studied at the Rubin Academy and received a degree in philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He started out as a pianist, but switched to conducting after his military service in the Israel Defense Forces. He attended a summer course given by Leonard Bernstein in Fontainebleau, France. Music career Talgam debuted as an international conductor in 1987, when he was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to appear in a special concert with Orchestre de Paris. Bernstein conducted the second half of the concert. Since then, he has conducted many orchestras in Europe. He was the first Israeli conductor to perform with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Leipzig Opera. Conducting
Conducting is the art of directing a musical performance, such as an orchestral or choral concert. It has been defined as "the art of directing the simultaneous performance of several players or singers by the use of gesture." The primary duties of the conductor are to interpret the score in a way which reflects the specific indications in that score, set the tempo, ensure correct entries by ensemble members, and "shape" the phrasing where appropriate. The Israeli Opera, formerly known as the New Israeli Opera, is the principal opera company of Israel. Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion
The Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion (ISO) (in hebrew: התזמורת הסימפונית הישראלית ראשון לציון) was founded in 1988 by the municipality of Rishon LeZion. A year later, in 1989, it became the resident orchestra of the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. Like the opera orchestra, ISO participates in all performances of Israeli opera at the Tel Aviv opera and in the great outdoor performances, crowned in recent years with performances at the Masada Festival.
