Itabuna is a municipality in Bahia, Brazil. It is the 6th largest city in Bahia by population after Salvador, Feira de Santana, Camaçari, Vitória da Conquista, and Juazeiro. The 1979 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, (officially the V Copa Brasil) was the 23rd edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The Campeonato Baiano Second Division are the second tier level of the football tournaments for the Bahia state league. The competitions are organized by the Bahia Football Federation. Usually, the champions of a division are promoted in the next year to the immediately upper level.
