Iswahyudi
Air Commodore Iswahyudi (born 15 July 1918; disappeared 14 December 1947) was an Indonesian airman and National Hero. On 14 December 1947, the plane he was flying with Halim Perdanakusuma crashed off the coast of Tanjung Hantu Hill, Perak, Malayan Union. Halim's body was later found, but Iswahyudi's was never recovered. Biography Iswahyudi was born on 15 July 1918 in Surabaya, East Java. He studied at a HIS (, or elementary school for native Indonesians) and MULO (, or junior high school) in Surabaya. He continued his studies to an AMS (senior high school) in Malang. Iswahyudi then enrolled at a medical school in Surabaya. While studying at the school, he became interested in aviation. As a result, he quit his studies and enrolled at the Military Officers' School () in Kalijati, West Java in 1941. Indonesian Air Force
The Indonesian Air Force ( id, Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU), literally "''Indonesian National Military-Air Force''") sometimes shortened as IDAF / IdAF, is the aerial branch of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Iswahjudi Air Force Base, Iswahjudi Airport or Iswahjudi Airfield is an airfield operated by the Indonesian Air Force. It is the main base of several squadrons of Indonesian jet fighters, including: *Skadron Udara 3 "Sarang Naga" (Dragon's Nest), equipped with F-16AM/BM (previously F-16A/B Block 15 OCU) *Skadron Udara 14 "The Eagles", equipped with F-16C/D Block 52ID (previously F-5E/F-5F and Sukhoi Su-27/ 30 as a stopgap) *Skadron Udara 15 "The Typhoons", equipped with KAI T-50i Golden Eagle (previously Hawk 53) The airfield is located at Maospati, Magetan, near the city of Madiun on the west side of East Javan capital Surabaya. Avro Anson RI-003
Avro Anson RI-003 is a twin-engined, multi-role aircraft made by the British manufacturer Avro, and the third aircraft owned by the government of the Republic of Indonesia. The aircraft was purchased in early December 1947, was given RI-003 register number, and was used as a military and civil air transport facility. The effort to purchase this aircraft started with the establishment of the ''Panitia Pusat Pengumpul Emas'' (Central Gold Collection Committee) by Mohammad Hatta, Indonesia's first vice president, in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, on 27 September 1947. The committee aimed at collecting public donations to buy aircraft, in the framework of resistance to Operation Product (now known in Indonesia as the First Dutch Military Aggression), an offensive by Netherlands forces against Indonesian-held territory. Air Vice-Marshal Abdul Halim Perdanakusuma (18 November 1922 – 14 December 1947), better known as Halim Perdanakusuma, was an Indonesian airman and National Hero of Indonesia. Biography Perdanakusuma was born in Sampang, Madura, Dutch East Indies, on 18 November 1922. After attending elementary and middle school at schools for native Indonesians, he attended the Opleidingschool voor Inlandsche Ambtenaren (a school for the training of native officials) in Magelang. However, he dropped out in his second year and joined the Naval Academy of Surabaya to answer the Dutch colonial government's call for a militia. After finishing the academy, he spent some time in the Dutch Colonial Navy's information department. National Hero of Indonesia ( id, Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia) is the highest-level title awarded in Indonesia. It is posthumously given by the Government of Indonesia for actions which are deemed to be heroic, defined as "actual deeds which can be remembered and exemplified for all time by other citizens" or "extraordinary service furthering the interests of the state and people". Soerjadi Soerjadarma (Indonesian Spelling System, EYD: Suryadi Suryadarma) (6 December 1912 – 16 August 1975) was the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force from 1946 to 1962.
