Israel Fernando da Costa Alves (born 31 January 1977), is a Portuguese professional futsal player who plays as a winger for Futsal Azeméis. Israel earned over 100 caps for the Portugal national team and competed in two FIFA Futsal World Cups, in 2004 and 2008, and in three UEFA Futsal Championships, in 2005, 2007, and 2010. At club level in his long career as a futsal player he became Portuguese champion playing for Sporting CP in the 2003–04 season and he also played in the Spanish División de Honor de Futsal for FS Zamora and in China China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a country in East Asia. Futsal
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hardcourt, hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and Indoor soccer, indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. The 2005 UEFA Futsal Championship was the fifth official edition of the UEFA-governed European Championship for national futsal teams. It was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, between 14 February and 20 February 2005. Spain, the reigning FIFA World Champion, defeated Russia in the final, winning their third (with 1996 and 2001) UEFA Championship. The third place match was a repeat of the 2003 final, with Italy again defeating Ukraine, this time 3–1. UEFA Futsal Championship
The UEFA European Futsal Championship is the main futsal competition of the men's national futsal teams governed by UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations). History The first tournament was held in Spain in 1996 and featured only six teams. The tournament was expanded to eight teams in 1999 and held every two years, and further to 12 teams in 2010. After 2018, the tournament was expanded to 16 teams and held every four years, to avoid leap years when the FIFA Futsal World Cup is being played.
