Israel At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Israel competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018, with ten competitors in four sports. Competitors The following is a list of the number of Israeli competitors participating at the Games per sport/discipline. Alpine skiing Israel qualified one male alpine skier. Figure skating In the 2017 World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki, Finland, Oleksii Bychenko finished in 10th place with 245.96 points, and earned two quota places for the Israeli delegation in the men’s event. Isabella Tobias and Ilia Tkachenko finished in 12th place with 162.67 points, and earned one quota place in the ice dancing event. In the 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany, Evgeni Krasnopolski and Paige Conners finished in 8th place with 171.61 points and earned one quota place in the Pairs event. Alpine Skiing At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's Slalom
The men's slalom competition of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics was held on 22 February 2018 at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre at the Alpensia Sports Park in PyeongChang. Qualification Up to a total of 320 alpine skiers qualified across all eleven events. Athletes qualified for this event by having met the A qualification standard, which meant having 140 or less FIS Points and being ranked in the top 500 in the Olympic FIS points list or meeting the B standard, which meant 140 or less FIS points. Countries not meeting the A standard were allowed to enter a maximum of one B standard athlete per gender. The Points list takes into average the best results of athletes per discipline during the qualification period (1 July 2016 to 21 January 2018). Ronald Zilberberg (born 4 April 1996) is an Israeli Olympic figure skater. He competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Adel Tankova in Figure Skating in ice dancing and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Daniel Samohin
Daniel Samohin ( he, דניאל סמוכין; born 12 March 1998) is an Israeli figure skater. He is the 2016 World Junior champion, and has won two ISU Challenger Series medals, including a gold medal at the 2015 U.S. International Classic. Samohin is one of the few skaters to have landed two quad jumps in a short program, three quads in a free program, and five quads in one competition. He was a member of the Israeli delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Paige Conners (born 9 April 2000) is an American-Israeli pair skater. With her skating partner, Evgeni Krasnopolski, she is the 2017 CS Minsk-Arena Ice Star bronze medalist. She competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Figure Skating in pairs skating and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Evgeni Krasnopolski ( he, יבגני קרסנופולסקי ukr, Євгеній Краснопольський; born 4 October 1988) is a Ukrainian-born Israeli retired pair skater. Krasnopolski and Andrea Davidovich were the first pair representing Israel to qualify for Israel at the 2014 Olympics. They finished 15th in Sochi. Krasnopolski competed with Danielle Montalbano from 2009 to 2012. The 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy was a senior international figure skating competition held in September 2017 in Oberstdorf, Germany. It was part of the 2017–18 ISU Challenger Series. Ilia Alexeyevich Tkachenko (russian: Илья Алексеевич Ткаченко, born 26 December 1986) is a Russian former competitive ice dancer. Skating for Russia with Ekaterina Riazanova, he became the 2010 Trophée Eric Bompard silver medalist, the 2012 Skate Canada International bronze medalist, and a three-time Russian national medalist. Competing with Isabella Tobias for Israel, he won four medals on the ISU Challenger Series. Personal life Tkachenko was born on 26 December 1986 in Perm, Russian SFSR, the elder of two boys. He studied municipal administration. He married his wife, Ksenia, who is also from Perm, on 15 June 2012. After deciding to compete for Israel, Tkachenko applied for Israeli citizenship. Isabella Tobias
Isabella Tobias (born August 23, 1991) is an American-born Israeli ice dancer who competes with Ilia Tkachenko. Together they have won four medals on the ISU Challenger Series. Earlier in her career, Tobias skated with Otar Japaridze for Georgia and with Deividas Stagniūnas for Lithuania. With Stagniūnas, she won the bronze medal at the 2011 Skate America, placed in the top ten at two European Championships, and represented Lithuania at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
