Israel Amidan
Israel Amidan (born Wettenstein) (Hebrew: ישראל עמידן; April 9, 1921 – 1968) was a musician and composer. Biography Amidan was born in Transylvania, Romania on April 9, 1921. He was a child when his parents moved to Mandatory Palestine and participated in establishing a moshav now called Kfar Gidon or Gideon. He taught at the Tel Aviv music academy; violinist Yair Kless was a notable student. Hebrew
Hebrew (; ; ) is a Northwest Semitic language of the Afroasiatic language family. Historically, it is one of the spoken languages of the Israelites and their longest-surviving descendants, the Jews and Samaritans. Jewish Music
Jewish music is the music and melodies of the Jewish people. There exist both traditions of religious music, as sung at the synagogue and domestic prayers, and of secular music, such as klezmer. While some elements of Jewish music may originate in biblical times, differences of rhythm and sound can be found among later Jewish communities that have been musically influenced by location. In the nineteenth century, religious reform led to composition of ecclesiastic music in the styles of classical music. Yair Kless
Yair Kless ( he, יאיר קלס; born November 12, 1940) is an Israeli violinist and professor. Background Kless began performing at an early age, attaining a world-wide reputation in his activities like soloist and chamber musician. His repertoire includes works from baroque period to compositions specially created for him. He studied with Israel Amidan and André Gertler at the Academy of Music in Tel-Aviv, and later at the Conservatory and the Musical Chapel Queen Elizabeth in Brussels. Kless belonged to the Baroque Musicians Israeli Group, and he was the first violin in the Sol-La-Re string quartet, the Tel Aviv piano quartet and the American New Art Trio. He is currently a member of the Modus Trio, a string trio in Israel. Kfar Gidon ( he, כְּפַר גִּדְעוֹן, , Gideon Village) is a moshav in northern Israel. Located near Afula, it falls under the jurisdiction of Jezreel Valley Regional Council.
