Isabelle Pauwels
Isabelle Pauwels (born 1975 in Kortrijk, Belgium) is a Vancouver-based artist who works primarily in video-based art. Pauwels received a BFA from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and obtained an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. Pauwels' work explores narrative structures, forms of storytelling and how they shape moral and emotional experiences. The narrative in her work does not follow causality; instead it performs in a twisting loop that circles around itself. Career Pauwel's first exhibition at Or Gallery in 2001 has been followed by multiple local and international exhibitions including at the Galerie Tatjana Pieters in Belgium, Power Plant in Toronto, Henry Art Gallery, and the Vancouver Art Gallery. In 2013, Pauwels was shortlisted for the Sobey Art Award. Experimental Media And Performing Arts Center
The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) is a multi-venue arts center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, which opened on October 3, 2008. The building is named after Curtis Priem, co-founder of NVIDIA and graduate of the RPI Class of 1982, who donated $40 million to the Institute in 2004. Sara Mameni (born March 29, 1977) is an assistant professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at University of California, Berkeley. Education Mameni completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, a Master of Arts from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD in Art History from the University of California, San Diego. Witte De With Center For Contemporary Art
Kunstinstituut Melly is a contemporary art gallery located in a former school building on Witte de Withstraat, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was founded in 1990 and originally named after the street it was located on. It presents curated exhibitions, symposiums, live events, educational programs, and has a separate art literature publishing arm. In 2017, the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, as it was known, announced it would change its name in order to distance itself from its de facto namesake, the Dutch naval admiral Witte de With, and recognise the negative impacts of colonialism. The Power Plant
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is a Canadian non-collecting public contemporary art gallery located at the heart of Toronto, Ontario at the Harbourfront Centre. It is a registered Canadian charitable organization supported by its members, sponsors, donors, and funding bodies at all levels of government. Initially established as the Art Gallery at Harbourfront in 1976, the Power Plant was officially opened in 1987 in its current location. The Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the campus of the University of British Columbia. The Contemporary Art Gallery (CAG) is a non-profit public contemporary art gallery in downtown Vancouver. The CAG exhibits local, national, and international artists, primarily featuring emerging local artists producing Canadian contemporary art. Mercer Union is a Canadian artist-run centre in Toronto, Ontario, established in 1979 to exhibit contemporary art. History Mercer Union was founded in 1979 by artists Michael Balfe, Peter Blendell, Ric Evans, Peter Hill, Jamie Lyons, David MacWilliam, John McKinnon, Robert McNealy, Jaan Poldaas, Renee Van Halm, Joy Walker and Robert Wiens.
