Isaac Nicola
Isaac Nicola Romero (11 April 1916 in Havana, Cuba – 14 July 1997) was a prominent Cuban guitarist and one of the founders of the modern Cuban Guitar School. He was also brother of Clara (Cuqui) Nicola. Academic formation Isaac Nicola began studying guitar with his mother, Clara Romero de Nicola, at the Havana Municipal Conservatory. After graduating in 1934, he studied harmony and music history at Conservatorio Bach. In 1939 Isaac Nicola continued his training in Paris with Emilio Pujol, a disciple of Francisco Tárrega. Juan Leovigildo Brouwer Mezquida (born March 1, 1939) is a Cuban composer, conductor, and classical guitarist. He is a Member of Honour of the International Music Council. Family He is the grandson of Cuban composer Ernestina Lecuona y Casado. His great-uncle, Ernesto Lecuona, composed " La Malagueña" and his second cousin, Margarita Lecuona, composed "Babalú", which was popularized by Cuban musician and actor Desi Arnaz. Flores Chaviano (born 10 December 1946) is an accomplished Cuban composer, guitarist, professor and orchestral conductor that has achieved great international recognition. Academic background Flores Chaviano began his musical studies in his native city of Caibarién, where he received instruction from professor Pedro Julio del Valle, which continued at a later time at the National School of Arts (ENA) in Havana, with renowned professor Isaac Nicola, founder of the modern Cuban Guitar School.
